About
I live in the Gettysburg area and really enjoy The Eternal Light Peace Memorial off of Mummasburg Road. We used to go there in the evening when I was growing up and was a favorite stopping place. It was commemorated in 1938 by President Franklin D...more

This is a must see on your trip to the area. Then again, there are many must sees in the area. I could have sat near this memorial for hours. It is wild to just look around this entire area

This is a truly amazing Memorial to the passengers of the fourth plane to have been taken over on 911. Learned so much more of what transpired on that horrific day. The surrounding countryside is a magnificent tribute.

I recently visited Gettysburg and the Eternal Light had stopped burning. It's still a very beautiful memorial steeped in history with hidden in plain sight imagery. I wholly suggest you take an up-close look during your Gettysburg visit.

While the Memorial is Eternal, the flame is not sadly so. When there on the 19th of October it wasn't lit and a crew was working on it. As with everything, maintenance is needed. Apparently work was done to preserve it in both 2014 and...More

Glad we have pictures from the past of the eternal peace light being lit. Why wasn’t it lit? Too many tour buses, it’s ruining Gettysburg

This is a somber memorial as well as an important location that locates the area in which the two armies collided on the first day of battle.

Nice views of parts of the battlefields. Informational kiosks to explain things. Great place for photos.

It is a bit out of the general direction of all the town activity but that makes this ever so much more peaceful. Very special to check out and worth it if you have the time. Beautiful monument and the surrounding rolling fields bring a...More

This is usually the first stop on a tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield. I have visited this attraction several times, and unfortunately the eternal flame always seems to be extinguished during my brief visit (Via a two hour Battlefield Bus Tour).

In addition to the Civil War significance of this memorial this is the inspiration that Jackie Kennedy drew on for JFK's memorial after their visit in 1963.
