Overview
More
The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

Acres & acres of open land where battles were fought. Lots of monuments representing states involved, an accounting of the dead, injured and survivors.

This was an awesome experience. I'm a bit of a civil war buff but I wasn't prepared for this experience. There is a ton of stuff to see I was there 2 1/2 days and couldn't take it all in. We did the museum experience...More

We have been to the park before and done the self-guided tours, but this time we decided to reserve a trained guide to go with us in our car. We found it to be worth the money ($75 in our case--cost depends on how many...More

You can Drive thru and do it in a couple of hours or be a die hard and walk through it and spend a day or two. SO MUCH to see if you're into American history

I have visited Gettysburg probably at least 20 times in my life. We've been going every 2 or 3 years (only a 2 hour drive from home), and we try to do different things each trip. I believe that every time we go, we learn...More

We went on a sunny warm day reminiscent of the day of the great battle. We enjoyed the 20 minute film to give our kids a refresher on what happened here. Then on to the museum where we walked through the thoughtful displays. Enthusiastic staff...More

Often overlooked are the battlefield walks conducted by park rangers. Different walks are offered on a daily basis. I was lucky to walk Pickett's charge following the course of Lewis Armistead's brigade from where it formed (near the Virginia Monument) across the field to "The...More

If you are a history buff, you need to see this before the PC culture in our society demands that it be removed so no one get offended. Did the self audio tour which says 2.5-3 hours. We were getting out at many locations so...More

As long (or short) as you'd like. I'd give it at least two hours, assuming you will stop at a few spots and get out, plus you'll be reading signs or listening to the audio description (if you have an audio tour program... More
