Description:

Celebrating the history and the heroes of America with Abraham Lincoln!...

Celebrating the history and the heroes of America with Abraham Lincoln! Experience the spirit of the men and women who achieved our American independence and freedoms as you ride the rails with Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Train museum! Journey with Gettysburg's beloved Jim Getty portraying President Abraham Lincoln as he walks with you through the history of our nation. Experience our operating train layout presenting President Lincoln's funeral journey from Washington DC to Springfield Illinois. Board our simulated funeral train car, The United States, where President Abraham Lincoln's spirit pays tribute to the American heroes and citizens who made our nation what it is and encourages future generations to "Keep the Spirit" of our nation alive. We present displays and historic artifacts of Abraham Lincoln, our native lands and the Wild West with its struggles, heroes and horses. We explore memorabilia of our sports figures and Hollywood stars. We recall the battles and wars our nation has endured and pay tribute to our heroes, the soldiers, veterans, law enforcement and EMS of our country. The museum offers the ideal opportunity to experience our nation's past while fostering an appreciation of our present and a rekindling of hope for our nation's future.

This museum presents a little insight into the life of Abraham Lincoln. Some of the information specifically relates to the role of trains during his lifetime. It's an opportunity to get a better picture of life at this time in our country. And, the gift shop is excellent. I'd recommend a short visit.

This has been a family favorite for years! There is something for everyone. Including a layout for the children to play with and a 'train ride'. It is a welcome break from 'total Civil War'. Karen and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The gift shop is a mixture of Civil War, railroad and misc.. Very nice selections. A few years... More

This place combines history & trains all in one. The museum leads you through Lincoln's political career to his death. The 1st train layout represents the train that carried Lincoln's body & his son's body from Washington to Springfield. The simulation train is Lincoln talking while you're supposed to be on his funeral train. The museum is filled with a... More

Once you pay (inexpensive), the staff keeps you fully engaged. The staff is also extremely friendly. This is a kid friendly place and so much to do and see. My son is 20 months old and very active so this place kept him fully engaged. You definitely leave here feeling a since of pride no matter what nationality you are.

My husband is a model train enthusiast so we stopped here. It is not large but very well done. I really enjoyed myself. You enter into a gift shop of train and historical gifts and souvenirs and after purchasing your token, you enter the museum. It includes a small model train layout and short movie on screen of Lincoln's funeral... More
