Perhaps by nature, so much more quiet than down at the FDR site; this cottage is quaint; quiet and a place to contemplate and learn from. I have been here maybe 5 times now in the last 15 years; and find that "the story" that...More

My parents and I didn't have time to tour the entire property, but we parked, walked the grounds, and took some pictures of my parents sitting on the patio near the pool.

A rainy day activity filled with some history and culture in Hyde Park, NY, a great little spot in the Hudson Valley. Definitely worth visiting if you are passing through the Hudson Valley.

This former factory was turned into a home where Eleanor Roosevelt lived, worked and entertained. It is a very humble place compared to the big home on the River. Great tour by Natioanl Park Service !

The guide was informative and a great speaker. We were disappointed, however, that the tour covered a very limited area of only the first floor of Val-Kill.

Fabulous intimate look at how Eleanor Roosevelt lived after FDR's death. This is the only home that she ever owned-- and it provides abundant insight into the kind of woman and leader ER was.

With tour commentary by a couple of rangers, free time to wander grounds and gardens and to explore nearby stone cottage this can be an experience that fits every expectation. Rangers described Eleanor's life at the cottage with affection, humor and respect for her many...More
