Five hours (9-2) for $250 was expensive, but the twelve-person "Spring in the Hudson River Valley" workshop (for amateurs, not CIA students) was excellent. With recipes and ingredients supplied, and with a chef and assistants to help, we each volunteered to make one dish. These were later grouped into four courses of three dishes for our lunch. The dishes varied... More

The 4 pm public tour gives an orientation to the institute with insight to the baking and pastry program as you walk by windows into a number of classrooms. Combine it with an after tour drink/cocktail then an early dinner in one of the restaurants.

It is not often that I am surprised with outcomes. I visited CIA with my wife and another couple expecting a pedestrian tour and a solid, but otherwise unremarkable dining experience. nothing coulee be further off-mark. First the tour -- it was a fascinating slice of life at a culinary school led by a senior student with clear passion in... More

We went to The Bocuse, the French restaurant. We got seated in front of the kitchen, which was amazing. We got to see first hand the cooking done at each station. The service and meal was excellent. I am an alumni of Marist college, which is down the road from CIA. I've always had great food experiences at CIA. We... More

Our three course lunch was very nice. The ice cream for desert was exceptional in taste and presentation. However one person in our party must be glutton free and they weren't many choices for her. The service was very polite but spotty.

We went to the Caterina de' Medici restaurant and it was delightful! It was a fluke to be able to get a reservation on such short notice but it was snowing a bit so maybe that was it. I highly recommend that anyone who delights in delicious food in a comfortable setting try any restaurant at the Culinary Institute of... More

This is a lovely teaching institution where students learn hands on with visitors like us as a test. We were asked to rate service and every element of our dinner. The students are eager to please and the service is perfect. Food choices are sufficient and all are prepared to perfection. We were a group of 8 friends and they... More
