If you are looking for a book and Chamblin Bookmine doesn't have it....I would be shocked. There are so many books in this store. If you are a serious book lover, you will want to block off at minimum a half a day for a visit here. If you have a few books to part with - they take trade... More

This review actually relates to the "uptown" location on Laura Street, but I suspect in substance that matters not. If you are either higher-educated or imbued in the rich counter-culture, Chamblin Bookmine is an icon as well as a refuge. Many of us have experienced the encyclopedic used bookstore at some time -- and felt thrilled (no exaggeration). If you... More

Their books are way overpriced, questions and requests for help were seen as a bother. My wife purchased six paperback books for a total of $65.27. The very same titles, at amazon.com, for brand new paperbacks would have cost $68.06. The place smells bad and the isles are cluttered with boxes of books that will not fit on the shelves.... More

I have been to this place many times and I am always amazed! This is a great place for all book lovers. They also sell dvds and graphic novels! This place is HUGE and it's always fun getting lost inside! They also have a lot of good deals!

As a bookworm - i.e. someone whose credit card is more in danger in a bookshop than a shoe shop this is both a welcome haven and a serious risk! It's more of a labyrinth than a mine and I loved being able to wander about and explore. Book heaven.

This is largest used book store I've ever visited as its web site states it is 55,000 square feet and there are over 2 million books on display (98% used and 2% new. Most used books are sold at 50% off cover price. Huge variety of topics to choose from. They also have video and audio on sale.

Great book store with an amazing amount of books from any imaginable topic! Their new location is more organized and larger which allows for more browsing and reading space.

The book store is massive but the organization leaves a lot to be desired and if you ask for help you are only directed to a general area of a store that is almost the size of a city square block. You are then expected to search through stacks of books with no discernible order that are just jumbled all... More

Warning: if you're claustrophobic; beware, the floor to ceiling "filled to the brim" shelves are loaded! Throw in a wee bit of dust, a maze of corridors and a relatively loosely organized layout/design, you are in for a real treat of leisurely discovery that is a goldmine of paperbacks and hardbacks (some old, some real old and the rare books...
