I love the National Park property Theodore Roosevelt which has beautiful hiking/ and walking trails. Inside, past the parking area one can take the 1 mile loop ( walk) or the 3 mile loop which will lead you to the Marsh area. Florida in the raw- as it was ..... there is a lookout platform when you find the marsh.... More

Free access, a mostly wide trail, small inclines, a variety of local flora, a short bridge over a slow-moving creek, a piece of conservation history, a Civil War veteran's grave, and a fifteen-foot lookout platform over the marsh all make for a really pleasant and refreshing hike not far from the city. Be aware that there are no restrooms along... More

We were told to check out the river view after we visited Fort Caroline, we realized the access was to the right of fence and down a bit to a parking lot. There is place for a picnic aside the parking area. Great display of maps and the trail system. No geocaches in this area, but views were worth the... More

My husband and I hike here almost daily. It's beautiful and peaceful. We always start at the Fort Caroline parking lot and make our way down to the Theodore Roosevelt parking lot and do the red to blue to green loop, then back on the red. It's kept up very nicely. Bugs are bad on the hot days so make... More

Such wonderful vegetation and natural beauty. The area is kept up well. I can read a lot of history of the area. It's really just wonderful to see nature in its wild state.

The Teddy Roosevelt area of the Timucuan Preserve is my favorite hiking spot in Jax. It offers a rich history, scenic views, and actual (though small) elevation changes. Take the Willie Brown trail and enjoy the marsh from the observation tower. Examine the age-old oyster mounds and watch the ground move as the fiddler crabs scurry out of your way.... More

This was an interesting place of trails located right across from the Fort Caroline area. Nice scenery, easy trails but take bug spray.

The land for this park was donated by an old fellow who grew up there and continued to live on the property in a little shack without electric and water. Remnants of the cabin and his family cemetery plot is there. It offers great walking trails that run up and down hills, along the marsh and river. They are well... More
