Loved learning about the history of life along this river. So much going on from salmon fishing to Coast Guard coxswain learning rough water rescue. I'd say this museum is a do not miss in Astoria.

A wonderful museum! Make sure you have at least 2 hours to wander. We spent 2 1/2 hours and could have easily spent more time. They have so many interesting exhibits. Well worth the time! A must see!

This is a great museum and a must see before going to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. The Cheese Factory has a replica of a boat that for a year and half transported 6 tons of cheese at at time to portland

We spent several hours in the museum learning the history and admiring the stout men who plied their maritime trades in the area. Excellent exhibits and storytelling

Yes, there is an admission charge. It includes boarding The Columbia ship located behind the museum.
We are coming into Astoria on a cruise ship. How far is museum from the port? Also, is there public transportation available?

The museum is about two miles from the port. There will be a shuttle bus from the cruise ship to take you to the museum and bring you back to the ship. (I believe it runs every 20 minutes.)
Is this museum a good fit for a 13 and 14 year old?
