This is not your normal Tourist or Travelers view of this attraction, this is a Fisherman's view. Clatsop Spit has multiple Tourist attractions, but the fishing is what has drawn me to the Spit since 1967. I have learned to read her waters, moods and attitudes through the years. The majority of the fishing on the Spit will consist of... More

When you get there, it doesn't look like much but a field, some rocks, parking lot, outhouse and a tower you can walk up. BUT ... WOW what a view from the top!!!! Its kind of amazing and seeing how there is this wall of rocks, one side there is the ocean and the other side is a field... You... More

The Columbia River enters the Pacific Ocean at the Clatsop Spit. The Clatsop Spit can be viewed in Fort Stevens State Park. The entire park has lots of things to see and do. There is tower where we viewed the Columbia River, Pacific Ocean and jetty. There were surfers in the water as well as fishermen on the jetty. The... More

We were camped at the fort and came here to see the waves from the viewing tower. The weather was flat calm for the days we were here, but the Columbia and the Pacific create some wonderful waves around here. No wonder that even the small boats can have trouble here at the mouth. We want to come back here... More

Make sure to go out to the observation tower that overlooks the jetty. It's where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. The waves against the rocks are incredible and the views are spectacular!

Good display of the fort that Lewis and Clark spent the winter in. The film was way average, really not much content. We felt like it could have been better. There is a lot more history here than what was talked about. A better plan might be for you to bone up on your history before your visit here. A... More

Don't miss the opportunity to drive out to the jetty observation tower. Panoramic views, great waves, and definitely worth the drive!

We visited the jetty as a result of a visit to the Maritime Museum. I wanted to see the waves caused by the clash of the Pacific and Columbia River. The site is beautiful with lots of beach to walk; away from jetty. The view from the top of the observation deck, built by The Army Corp of Engineers, provides... More

Not too far of a drive to take in some great ocean views. Magnificent wave action against the rock jetty. Beautiful panoramic view of the ocean, north jetty, Columbia river and the Oregon coastline.

This should be rated much higher of things to do! It is a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean! Be safe and stay on the viewing platform and off the Jetty!
