A true gem slightly off the beaten track. There are some quite outstanding pieces and an opportunity to watch and talk to a restorer. Bright, airy, modern galleries sit alongside galleries displaying objects as they would have been 100 years ago. fascinating to think that this started as a private collection and is now a free public attraction.

I lost 3 hours here today. I could not stop myself from wandering into every corner on every exhibit floor. Truly a magnificent collection with ample information about the Walters. Stop by the conservation window for information and sometimes a demo on restorations. No words can do this place justice-it is amazing.

Had a chance to visit the Walters Museum in the heart of downtown Baltimore. The first nice surprise was that it is free! Beautiful collection of impressionistic paintings displayed very well. Not too big, a very manageable museum for a lazy afternoon. I would definitely recommend making a point to visit it.

The Walters is one of those places you might easily miss. For Pete's Sake don't! This is a nicely arranged gallery with a solid permanent collection. Mr. Walters obviously had serious good taste. So do his successors. There is no fluff here. A nice selection of impressionists (Monet, Manet, Sisley, Pisarro) ,an impressive number of Delacroix and a JMW Turner.... More

Though a bit of a walk, you will find this museum a hidden gem from all the other attractions Baltimore has to offer. The museum is free, provides lockers for personal effects and allows photography which you will find a ton of picture worthy items.

Museum is just my favorite part of Baltimore. Highly recommend coming here on a Sunday with kids and participating in the Sunday art program. It's usually very well thought out and uses high quality materials (not a dollar store stuff)... Love the restaurant there too.

Wow! What a great museum for a private collection. Definitely worth the visit. Also given that it was free.

This museum is really nice. Its free and yet offers many exhibits including a real mummy. If you go in the afternoon you can find on-street parking close to the entrance.
