This is an old cemetery, which locals kind of use as a park. I wish I could have found a guide or docent for this site. I note, however, no one has been interred since the 1850 or 60's. It is a popular stop for...More

We loved hearing the stories about the different areas of Savannah and this place had perhaps the most interesting story of all that we heard.

Over 10,000 people buried here! The graves are so impressive and this cemetery is so beautiful! My favorite was the wall of broken gravestones.

Full of folks k s from the 1820 yellow fever epidemic. Much history here, but maybe headstones aren't readable. Lovely moss-draped trees and lots of informational signs. A real history lesson!

A visit to Colonial Park will take you back in time. The cemetery is full of yellow fever victims and was also a place where the union soldiers took refuge even staying in the tombs. The Union soldiers even changed the dates on some of...More

Colonial Park Cemetery was a few blocks walk from where we stayed in Savannah and worth strolling through. Don't miss the walk of headstones on the west side of the cemetery. It is rich in interesting history, but it is no substitution for Bonaventure Cemetery....More
