Birds and animals in their natural habitat are rescued and would not survive in the wild. I loved this place, though I steered clear of the alligator portion.

We stopped at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center as we were traveling to Tybee Island. We appreciated the senior citizen rate. We enjoyed walking the trails to the exhibits, but must say we could not find critters of any kind at some of them. But is was a nice day and really enjoyed that natural setting and the animals that... More

A wonderful experience on a clear day. Designed as an educational experience for kids, and operated by the county school system, we truly enjoyed walking through the woodlands, observing and reading about the animals who are "rescued" and recuperated from injuries. It's a zoo in the woods. Peaceful walking experience.

Oatland has lots of great weekend programs for kids - check the website before you go. But on a nice day with kids (toddlers, preschoolers especially) this is a great place to burn off some energy running from exhibit to exhibit. Bobcats, alligators, buffalo, wolves, armadillos and more with lots of paths/trails for high energy. An interesting visit at any... More

Oatland was our final stop on Sunday before heading back to reality. It was a cool rainy day however the paths were clear and dont hold water. Due to winds the only exhibit closed was the Cougars. I highly recommend this to everyone regardless of age.

We were not expecting too much of this place, but turned out to be a very very pleasant visit. We all enjoyed a lot! The place is huge, the nature is vast and it has nice species to show to kids.

It is a self-guided walking tour into the wood. You can spend as much time as you want in there. It's pretty cool. It's almost like you actually walk around and found the animals. Good for kids and animal lovers.

My family recently attended an animal encounter at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center. The presenter was very good and gave lots of details about the animals, which included a snake, baby alligator, an opossum, a beautiful Baard owl, and an armadillo. The children were able to touch the reptiles but not mammals. We also walked about the exhibits. I loved... More

Stopped here while visiting Savannah. What a nice place. Found the animal enclosures fresh and clean. Enjoyed seeing them often in natural areas, and the protected from the weather observation huts. Trails were easy to navigate although you have to watch for roots occasionally. Even though signs were good, signage at the Historically encampment could have been better as we... More
