Overview
More
Not your average "Dry" Museum, the American Prohibition Museum is the first and only museum in the United States dedicated to the history of Prohibition. While here, guests will travel back in time to the early 1900s, as anti-alcohol rallies swept the nation and the "booze problem" was pushed to the fore-front of American politics.

The Prohibition Museum is one of the newest additions to Savannah's historical sites. This excellent presentation begins just before prohibition and concludes upon the repeal of prohibition. Well thought out, informative, and excellent guides.

We got to the Prohibition museum about 40 minute before closing. It is conveniently located among the restaurants and shops of the city Market area. The staff was informative and friendly and the history was very interesting, Its definitely more interesting than your old history...More

Finding things for repeat family visitors to do in Savannah can be challenging. I was excited to learn about the American Prohibition Museum when it opened a few months ago. The self-guided tour was short but very informative as it explained in detail the background...More

We really enjoyed touring the American Prohibition Museum. We learned about how different people influenced the passing of Prohibition and identified the famous personalities of the time who made $ selling alcohol. The tour took about an hour and ended at a 1920s bar where...More

Well presented. The Speakeasy is a great way to end the tour. Be aware, though, if you buy a ticket that includes a drink, your choice of drink is limited to a small selection of mixed drinks.

Lots of cool, genuine artifacts from the prohibition era—those were probably the most interesting things on the tour. Seeing old timey Tommy guns & flapper outfits & an entire smashed bar (somewhat reconstructed) was pretty cool, but not really a 5 star experience, in my...More

Interesting look into the Prohibition era in the US. It also covers the repeal as well as the beginning of NASCAR racing.

I'm very sorry that you found us to be cheesy, we certainly attempt to be a comprehensive yet fun look at Prohibition as a whole. We are glad that you did enjoy the origins of NASCAR.

A charming place to spend an hour or more. Good rainy-day activity. Lots of realistic looking wax figures, and friendly people along the way. It's pretty much a self-guided/self-paced tour. Good for adults of all ages; accessible (elevator).

Our understanding is no problem with what you wear during the day but evenings require a little more thought with regard to possibly being more in tune with the period.

Hello! No company in Savannah offers free admission to the museum, but it does come included in several packages offered by Old Town Trolley Tours.
