It's really cool to have limited, steep-staired access down to the river level. I really want to know more about those stairs! It seemed during our night there that the River St area is pretty quiet until after dinner, but it certainly got more crowded after 10 pm. Savannah has a unique tradition of "to go" cups from the various... More

Great place to stroll, shop, and eat along the waterfront. Many good restaurants and lots of tourist shops - also candy and nut shops. A relaxing atmosphere. Some of the walking can be uneven on brick or cobblestones so be careful. Certainly a must see in Savannah.

Typical shopping area along the riverfront like so many other cities have. Saw nothing so greatly unusual but it had a few interesting shops and a lot of restaurants.

An exploration of the many unique shops along River Street is a must. The shops are in early period buildings and tucked in every nook and cranny. The vary from very small to large. Some are touristy but many are period collectable antiques. Prices are reasonable. No visit is the same. Plan on 2-4 hours to explore.

Many of the better shops, craft stores etc have now been transformed into more souvenir and trinket shops plus the numerous bars etc.

We enjoyed an after lunch stroll along the plaza after lunch. There is an eclectic collection of shops and restaurants along the way. There are great views of the bridge along the way. Also, we saw the paddle wheel steamboat take off for a river journey.

We enjoyed strolling along the cobblestone streets enjoying the sites. There was lots to see. We actually ram out of time so we did not get to see everything. Will have to come back.

Fun shops and restaurants. A fun thing to do while visiting the area. May be hard for some to walk on the old cobblestones. The pralines at the Savannah Candy Shoppe are a must!
