Had a great time at the zoo! I loved that we were able to feed the critters there and there are great variety of animals. Its small enough to do in about an hour and a half or you can take more time with the animals., They had a maternity ward where you could hold baby goats. Sam in the shop was so helpful and informative about the area. ice little shop to buy shirts or stuffed animals, etc... Loved every minute of it but my favorite was the capybara. Such a sweetheart. Closed his eyes while getting a chin scratch.

Only open on the weekends in the Fall, we set our Sunday aside to visit Fort Rickey. With children ages 18 months, 3,7,and 12, there was something for each of them. The 3 and 7 year old loved riding trikes and pedal tractors through the while zoo! The "baby" and 12 year old loved the Maternity Ward and holding the baby goats. The middle two loved the hay maze. The ball pit and tunnels were loved by all. We all enjoyed the scheduled educational talks at various animal exhibits. If you're looking for a state of the art, modern zoo with tons of exotic animals this place is not for you. If you want a fun memorable experience, that the kids can run and play at and you can get up close and personal with many of the animals then start planning your trip. Some of what we saw...ferrets, capybara, wallabies, alpacas, snake, ponies, giant bunnies, black swan, white swan, ducks, pig, peacocks, lemurs, otters and tortus(away for winter),deer white and cute friendly brown.

I liked the wolves and can get right in with the goats and pet them. Sheep and deer and ducks walk right up to you
