While this theater is a bit run down, the charm still shines through. I would go back for another event.

Went to see grangaughter in the Nutcracker performance. I understand that this place has a huge historical valve and has been around since I was born. Do something with the seats. Having to sit in those seats for hours is a killer. Needs to be renovated

1920s movie palace & great theater organ
Jul. 2018
Year-'round theater with a variety of offerings, from the annual Capitolfest showing of classic 1920s-1930s silent and talkie movies, to big-screen showings of more recent popular movies and locally-produced live musicals.

The capital theater was a great stage for the young ladies of the dance studio! The insides could use a little "make up"... but it is a historical gem of the area!

Its fun to go back in time
Nov. 2016 • Family
A fun place to see a old movie, or other show. We went to the rising stars production, with school kids. It was a lot of fun. The theater is perfect for this, and we had a great time. It is very interesting to see all of the architecture in the old theater.

We have also gone to old movies here. It is great for that as well. Kind of a step back in time. Now I wouldn't recommend this theater to see the newest Star Wars film, but try it for some old time family fun with an old classic

1920s Movie Palace

Go back to the days of classic features on the big screen shown in restored 35mm, or early silent films accompanied by the gorgeous original theater organ. It needs a little cosmetic work, but it has so much to offer even without the pancake makeup. It's a must-see for movie lovers. And next door is its modern digital grandchild, Cinema Capitol, showing the new classics you can't find in the movieplexes.

Love having Christian Concerts in Rome
Aug. 2015
I went to a Christian concert here. It was great! It was so nice to hear top artists here in Rome. It is an older theater, but has a lot of character. I hope they have more.

The best of old time nostalgia and new independent film!
Aug. 2015 • Couples
The Capitol Theater in Rome has held a number of themed film festivals over the years including the annual much loved Capitolfest in early August every year. This festival appeals to early movie enthusiasts, meaning lovers of early sound films and of of silent films shown with musical accompaniment by the original 1928 house organ that comes up to stage height during intermissions and goes back down to orchestra level for film presentations. The organizers are very concerned about historical preservation and authenticity. More recently the organization has acquired adjacent buildings and is offering new independent film screenings in smaller 100 and 50-seat venues. As others have mentioned there are all sorts of live performances during the year that do not involve movies. The Capitol itself is quite an attractive building with most original details intact. It was built and opened in 1928.

Check out their website for events. When in Rome, go to the Capitol!

Beautiful Old Architecture, But...
Oct. 2014 • Friends
Half the seats in this place are ratty and literally falling apart. I also went home with flea bites all over my ankles and legs (probably thanks to the cat that they let roam all over the theatre.) I enjoyed the Art Deco architectural details, but I don't ever plan on going back.
