We arrived at the quarry around 2:00pm, which didn't give us much time. But the time we did have was great. You do have to put in a little work, but the fossil finds are unreal! Oh, and you get to keep them with a few exceptions.

I enjoyed my recent visit here and found the staff very helpful. A couple words of warning, however: You need a truck or SUV to get there as the road is like the surface of the moon (at best) and this is VERY strenuous work chipping away at the fossils---though I noticed most of the folks doing it were in... I know that I was there for an afternoon, but the time seemed to fly past so quickly that my dig was over and finished before I was really aware. George made sure that all the visitors had a good experience, and it was lovely how the other folks who were digging were sharing their excitement and showing off their... More

We visited the quarry on Thursday 9/8/16. After researching this vendor and the Pisces Prehistoric vendor on their web sites, we chose this one for two reasons: 1. The cost was half the price (for a one hour visit, which is all we wanted.) 2. This vendor provides the tools you need (hammer and chisel) at no cost. (Pisces Prehistoric... More

Pricey but priceless experience digging for and uncovering your own fossils. The staff was very helpful and even our 3 year old enjoyed digging

You get addicted to finding whole pieces of fish and plants, they give you the tools and show you how and what to look for. Great for all ages. Bring hat, sunglasses, tubs to put fossils in to take home, chairs and lunch. Take a break anytime. We planned on one day, stayed for 2 1/2 days. Plan on going... More

We took a side trip to visit Warfield Fossil Quarries on a recent vacation to YNP/Tetons. While very much off the beaten track, the directions provided on the website led us easily to our destination. We were provided with necessary tools and given brief instruction on the art of searching for fossils, then left to enjoy the digging! All members... More

We wanted to make a little collage of fossilized fish for our family room, and since we were in the area visiting Yellowstone / Grand Tetons, we decided to make a one day diversion to Kemmerer. We read up on the various quarries, and the one with the most information available and reasonably priced was Warfield’s Fossil Safari. The best... More

Just great..had a wonderful time. We found lots of fish fossils. Only had an hour but it was a lot easier than we thought it would be. Would recommend it to everyone.

Our guide showed us the basics of splitting the stone and searching for fossils. Maybe it was beginners luck, but we found a fossil in the first try! We (two of us) stayed for two hours and found about two dozen fossils. Amazing that these things have not seen the light of day in over 50 million years! Bring plenty... More
