I liked that it was in town near many attractions, restaurants, grocery stores. It was a great place, but the noise from the traffic, mostly planes made it a bit harder to enjoy. The WiFi hotspot was great. Showers you could pay for would be a plus.

If you want to see wildlife and beautiful country, this is the place to go. We saw moose feeding in ponds, fished in the stocked ponds and hiked along the Chena River.

You can not beat this area for outdoor fun. Bring the kids and let them explore. Bike, ride or just sit! Plenty to do all summer long. So glad I got out today and experienced natures bounty.

The location is good because it is in the city limits so you are close to everything when visiting Fairbanks, but this also makes it a noisy location. It is close to the airport so the planes fly directly overhead and you are close to several main roads. The sites are nice and typical of other state ran campgrounds. Another... More

This park is right on the Chena River, with day use areas and camping areas. It has a lot of shade, which is needed in the summer. Although it is in city limits, you don't hear the traffic or noise of the city. It is a nice place to spend some time outdoors.

This huge State Recreation Area is a 20-30 minute drive from downtown Fairbanks, but feels a world away. The Chena is a lovely clean river and there are many access points along the road, as well as hiking trails (Angel Rocks, Granite Tors) and campgrounds. Watch for moose!

An awesome place to spend the day and do some fishing. After our visit, it was easy to see why our daughter and son-in-law decided to make North Pole AK their home.

We hiked up to the first rock outcropping on the Angel Rock trail. Lovely walk, medium difficulty for infrequent hikers. Lovely view of Chena River.

We staied for five days at eh campground of Wayside, and we were really pleased to discover this oasis of calm just in the middle of the town, along the river. Sites for tents, RV, with or without services, it's not so much expensive, better than to stay in a parking lot!
