This was a very pleasant train trip from Denali to Anchorage. The VistaDome cars provide excellent views, the seats are comfortable, the car bartender and hostess were warm, friendly and knowledgeable. What a treat to have a full-service dining car on this train! The menu, of course, is limited, but diverse enough to satisfy any taste. We enjoyed the Seafood... More

This is a very scenic, beautiful train experience (about 8 hours) from Anchorage to Denali. You will see vistas from your upper level seats with full windows from left, overhead to right. You have a guide for your car (ours played the banjo and sang) in addition to full narration and service with snacks and drinks. It makes a quick... More

Our journey from Anchorage to denial was spectacular! The weather was clear and sunny and we had many opportunities to see Denali from the train. Our hostess, Jane, was very pleasant and helpful with the right amounts of talking and quiet time.

We took McKinley Explorer from Denali to Talkeetna, and we found it one of our best rides - very scenic and great staff. Dillon was our guide along the way, Kiki was serving us awesome cocktails. I can take this ride anytime just for the views from the dome train.

We travelled from Denali to Anchorage and we're pleased with both the service and the food. Lunch menu has a nice selection of items and the food was very good, better than we expected for a train. Our car tour guide was very good, knowledgable and funny. The views were great and we even saw some wildlife: a moose and... More

We were part of NCL tour. Had a private car. Breakfast was wonderful, drinks were reasonable and the scenery was spectacular. Would recommend this trip to others.

Took gnddgt on train to Denali for her birthday. What fun. Scenery was beautiful. Food was surprisingly delicious for a train and food service was great. Did this year before. You need to do some car at least once. Preferred fbx to Denali portion over Denali/ anchorage years ago did anchorage to gird wood. Wonderful also. Station at girdwood in... More

We traveled from Anchorage to Denali and had a very enjoyable ride. We enjoyed the scenery and the staff was wonderful. Rich was our bartender and was hilarious with his really bad jokes. Daisy was our tour guide and was very funny and told amazing stories of her childhood in Alaska. There were only two knocks on the experience; the... More

My Mother & I took an 8 hour trip on the McKinley Explorer from Anchorage to Denali. We were all seated on the top level where the windows extended thru to the roof for spectacular views of Alaska. The dining area was located on the 1st level. There was a small stairway to the top level. We had a bartender... More

I deeply regretted my decision to save a few dollars and book seats on the McKinley Explorer from Denali to Anchorage, rather than pay what I considered an exorbitant amount for Gold Star Dome service for that leg on the Alaska Railroad. Well, as usual, you get what you pay for. We had a spectacular four hours in the Gold... More
