The wildlife sanctuary draws a crowd - a crowd of song and shore birds, moose and waterfowl. Featuring easy walking nature trails that lead to Wander Lake and Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge. Off the trailhead of the sanctuary is the Taiga Center that features free Alaskan movies for resort guests during the summer on the 14 foot big screen. Visit the trailhead kiosk outside the Taiga Center for trail maps and Bird Checklist.

Very beautiful trail system, practically anyone can manage it. I used to see moose on the trail. Great location, and so accessible - just off College Road.

This is a nice place in Fairbanks to take a walk along trails. It is a flat set of trails. You walk through the forest & around Wander Lake. The trails are wheelchair accessible. Your access point is from Wedgewood Resort. There is a trail...More

It is always nice when guests take time to enjoy the wildlife sanctuary. In the lobby at Wedgewood Resort there is a Wildlife Reporting book that is updated weekly during the summer.

We stumbled onto Wedgewood Wildlife Sanctuary while walking the trails of nearby Creamer's Fields Waterfowl Refuge. Another group of birders mentioned the lake (we understood to be from old quarry operations). It had a nice trail around it and that they saw several red-necked grebes...More

We went in late season, 9/1, so misquitos weren't a problem. It's a little hard to find so go to the far East end of the parking for the resort and apartments. The trails start there. You can take a short walk about a half...More

The facilities are spectacular. Greenery and flowers, shuttle service between areas. Rather than "rooms" there are full-fledged apartments arranged by " lodges" multi-roomed, including separate kitchen dining room, walk-in closet, etc. a stupendous automobile museum on the grounds deserves a separate evaluation. The restaurant at...More

I love this area and only rate it lower this time around to remind people how important timing is. This is not a good place to stop in the middle of summer when the fields are dried up, the birds are mostly gone, and the...More

This place is great for bird lovers. Spectacular views. But the area is full of bugs and mosquitoes so make sure to carry bug repellent. It's an easy walk to the lake

We came up from Seattle for Spring Break, and this place was full of niceness and peace. The Habitat was so beautiful with deep snow, and we had a lot of fun there!
