We walked from the museum which was wonderful and had great exhibits to a nearby park with lots of monuments.

Enjoy the shops, the sights and the square that is next to the Chena River. We really enjoyed our stay at the Springhills Suite Marroitt that is in downtown.

As a visitor to Fbx, I headed straight down there on my first few days. I was pretty disappointed. The real Fbx is outside of the downtown. There is a few places of worth - such as the Morris Cultural Centre and a few of...More

Visited end of August 2018. Several places to eat and shops to visit. We did not get the real "tourist trap" feeling one gets at other places we have visited. A small older downtown with some newer additions near by. We had a pleasent afternoon.

Downtown had restaurants, museums, and was quaint. Parking could be better. Lots to see. Window shopping you can enjoy native made crafts & local artisans. Indoor small malls & lots of stores.

Had a great time in Fairbanks. Got myself a nice pair of beaver slippers. The furer was great. Traced my foot and made the slippers just for me. Also visited the ice museum. Loved it. Great place to take the kids.

I think it would be to far to walk, unless your hikers and up for an adventure.

I did not see any free shuttles. Taxi's were reasonable. Its not a big area. Maybe walk one way and taxi the other.
