I remember riding in the car with my uncle sal on the belt parkway I was 5 at the time while the bridge was being built only the cables were up the roadway hadn't been installed yet and I asked my uncle how do we get across it and he jokingly said we get to ride on the cables up and down till you get across and I believed him..I'm 63 now and live in las vegas but I remember what a beautiful bridge this is it's worth seeing if your in the area.

We were headed to Pennsylvania early in the morning. When there's no traffic, this is a scenic bridge to cross. I love seeing the boats in NY Harbor. Just don't forget your EZ-Pass!

The Verrazano Narrows Bridge connects the NYC boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island. Since it opened in 1964, it has been the only bridge across the Narrows, that is, the Atlantic Ocean. It's named after Giovanni de Verrazano, the first European known to have entered New York Harbour and the Hudson River. The best way to see the Narrows Bridge is from the water. We took a sailing cruise of the New York Harbour and the Verrazano Bridge is certainly a beautiful sight.

Swimming across the narrows is not recommended, even in warm weather. I recommend that thirsty travelers try taking a bridge, such as this one. Great views of the lower new york bay and the channel. Coney Island can be seen in the distance, and Sandy Hook NJ. At present there are no plans to add bike lanes or allow bikes to cross this bridge. That would, of course, be the cherry on the cake
