Great Old Mansions!

There are a lot of great houses and a serene area just blocks from a chaotic nabe. Quiet. Prime expensive real estate.

Wonderful place for a long walk, easily accessible by subway, great for trick-or treating on Halloween or for admiring beautiful houses when the flowers bloom in spring.

Ditmas Park is home to some amazing NYC architecture. The stately homes on Rugby Road are not to be missed. If you're visiting the area try some of the restaurants and cafes on Cortelyou. Mimi's Hummus is definitely a favorite. This is a great neighborhood for exploring when the trees are in bloom.

Ditmas Park is one of my favorite neighborhoods in all of NYC. It's a part of NYC that people never expect - a village-like atmosphere (Cortelyou Road has numerous great restaurants, etc.) along with old Victorian houses and other style that seems more out of the Midwest, not NYC. I love going to brunch at The Farm on Adderley or... More

This is a great area. I worked in this area for over 20 yrs. on and off. Good coffee shops, easy to get to by train or bus. If you're into looking at old house this place is for you. You might even see a movie or TV show being made. I used to watch Law & Order shoots all the... More

Wonderful neighborhood of victorian homes. They're not palatial (except by NYC apartment standards), but for most Americans, used to new houses, it's a fascinating walk. Check out the Tibetan restaurant at the subway. It's very plain, but delicious!!

Beautiful old homes, many built for film stars like Mary Pickford and the like. Worth a walk around for architecture lovers. Sofie's Choice was filmed in a school-mates home. The neighbor hood is quint and tree lined and a short distance to Prospect Park's south entrance. Go see how the other half lived.

Why is this even listed here. Its a residential neighborhood with private homes. Its one of the prettier and better places to live in Brooklyn but absolutely nothing to do as a tourist.

The best time to visit is springtime when the bushes and flowers are starting to bud. Many homes have beautiful gardens on large front lawns. Each home is different and you feel like you've been transported to the south or to some bucolic location with large, well-kept homes. You could walk up and down the blocks and be amazed.
