We drove 89A from Kanab to Page. Enjoyed every mile, particularly along the vermilion cliffs as we approached the Navaho Bridge over the Colorado. Enjoyed talking with the Navaho venders selling their crafts, and regret not buying jewelry directly from them. Fine stuff, better than...More

There are hardly any signs to get here & no amenities (absolutely none that we found, not even a National Park Monument sign or a bathroom). We were driving from Page to Phoenix & decided to stop. I wouldn't make a special trip to see...More

We used Paria Outpost and Outfitters to tour the White Pocket area of Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. We chose this area because you did not need a permit. We were not disappointed in the least as our tour exceeded expectations. We met our guide Eric...More

This whole area is so picturesque I had to be careful not to drive off the road and end up in the Colorado river! We stopped at the Navajo visitors center which was very informative and clean washrooms. The cliff dwellers site was small but...More

You can never see enough spectacular red rock formations. My only disappointment was there were no dedicated spots to stop and look, just a place to pull over for pictures.

Must take route 89A to see these beautiful cliffs. Saw a condor and deer. Best route to north rim of Grand Fanyon

driving US 89A is a good alternative, less crowded and with wonderful views of the cliffs at every turn and bend

Leaving Page you take 89 S to 89 ALT then back to 89 at Kanab. This scenic drive was ever changing and always so beautiful and filled with texture and color and depth. I was constantly pulling over to walk around and take pictures and...More

Almost deserted, very underrated we stumbled upon the area after missing our turn off and dam I'm glad we did! The scale of the grand canyon is almost too much to handle when your looking at it but this was simply stunning almost devoid from...More

The drive from Page to the North Rim (Grand Canyon) via the southern edge of the Vermillion Cliffs is simply spectacular. It is worth stopping at the bridge over the Colorado River then the road travels beneath the cliffs for many miles on its way...More

You drive to it. There are hiking trails that start from the visitors center if you are interested.

Hello, I will be driving from St. George to Page and GPS suggested the 89. I was wondering if driving on the 89 will be as scenic as 89A to view the cliffs without having to enter the park. Thank you!

89A follows the vermilion cliffs all the way from where you come out of the forest to the Colorado River. The road (89A) parallels the cliffs so views are from just below the cliffs. You never "enter" the area unless you... More
