it's always great to be able to see part of the history that you are reading about when you are visiting somewhere. just being able to imagine what it was like and have a visual is great.

A quick little hike off the parkway takes you to the cabin. The memorial marker was informative. Amazing the cabin still stands after all the years.

I am so glad that they saved this piece of local history. It is hard to imagine that one of the founding families lived in this little cabin.

It was a nice stopping off place as we drove through the park. It's a reminder of how people of many years ago lived in the mountains.

It is on the way to Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail on Cherokee Orchard Rd-Part of Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

Yes it was unaffected by the fires although they came close.
