This could be the crown jewel of Uganda. That is if the paths through the jungle would get minimal maintenance. Yes, I know, this is deep and dense jungle, but still... it's not fun battling endless knee-deep stretches of boot-eating mud or wading trough jungle rivers that get you wet until your butt.
You have to rent boots (5000Sh) and if you're lucky they don't have any holes. Otherwise you'll end up walking with wet and muddy feet all day long.
There's plenty of wood, plenty of workers (doing what ?) - my goodness, build some bridges over the rivers and muddy stretches.
Then this place would be an awesome place for nature and birdlovers !

Another wonderful visit to this amazing geographical formation with entertaining folklore. I love it.
One tip! Buy local eggs (free range) from the town. Add anything you can boil or steam to eat. Think about this for a moment! There’s absolutely lots and lots. Don’t forget the plates, condiments and drinks.

We went to hot springs at Semuliki Forest on recent excursion from Fort Portal and overall had a nice time. It is a bit of a hike from FP, 1.5 hours at best which is a lot for relatively short hike. The guides are, as always, very nice and informative. The springs are nice but not tons to see. Saw 3 different varieties of monkey on hike. Would recommend stopping if nearby or if have extra time in FP...

Visiting the hot springs is quite amazing, it gives you another view of the world and its attraction.

Boiling eggs at the female hot spring is the most interesting moment and moving on the wood board though male hot springs looks amazing to me because i was able to see the bottom line of it and the coins. Nature walk, your able to spot some few primates such as the grey checked mangabey, black and white colobus monkey, baboons.

I was working in the park with the Ugandan government for a week on a geothermal study and was not here as a tourist. I still had to pay $65 each day, although this is good for 24 hours. Apparently birding is great here, but given that I don’t know any of the birds, the cost of entry is very steep and I would personally not bother visiting this park at this cost, but that is just me. The cost does provide a guide, which is important for safety with frequent forest buffalo in the farther areas. The guides were all very helpful and helped us clear trail and construct temporary small bridges when working off the established trail network. We ran across bird poaching nets and the guide removed those while I was focused on geology. There were well worn paths to/from the bird poaching areas so am guessing the nets are now back up. Lots of tsetse flies keeps one swatting, and mosquitos also thick in the darker places of the forest during the day. It is easy to purchase fresh cocoa fruit from locals just outside the park, and there is a good roadside market for smoked fish not far north of the park. The hot springs, also known as Buranga Hot Springs are the highest temperature springs in the western rift. Many are near boiling at the surface and one is boiling robustly at 98.7 degrees-fluids boil at less than 100 given the elevation. The trail system does not go to this hottest spring. We measured temperatures in 70 hot springs and still did not get to them all.

There is no doubt it'is a beautiful place. One and a half hour of walk in the thick forest and then the two hotsprings. But I think U$S 65 for that is a rip off (U$S 40 the entrance plus U$S 25 the guide since is not allowed to make the walking alone, but it's a very easy walk and the path is very clear). Compared with another national parks this one is way too expensive for what it offers, I wouldn't have paid more than U$S 10, there's lots of places much more beautiful and free...

I don't recommend you to see the hotspring, because the scale are not big. But the game drive is very good, we miss the chance to see the shoebill because we have to leave in an early morning, we only managed to do the game drive. We were lucky to went out with an experienced driver guide and a tourist who is bird expert, I am not a big fan of bird, after their description, I begin to know and interested in bird. In the evening, when it was completely dark, we were managed to see a nightjar, which according to the bird expert, is very difficult to find in the wild, because it is a nocturnal.

I just visited Semliki Toro National Park and have to say that it's a fantastic place for bird watching. On one game drive my guide managed to tick off seven new species of birds. I was really impressed. I didn't see the shoebill stork but I will see it on another occasion.

This is good park because you have the feeling of having it all too yourself. It has a great wilderness because one is always hearing the colobus and De Brazza monkeys. There are plenty of Ugandan kob, Defassa's waterbuck, and buffalo. I also did see elephants.
