Please remember to take something to cover your shoulders or a t-shirt! this is a temple. Do not visit during hot hours of the day or your feet will be burn - remember that in temples you have to take the shoes out.

Many people stick to the beaches, Arugam bay has many beautiful temples & ruins which are lovely to visit. Everyone we went to, we were alone which was lovely but also a shame. Driver or Tuk Tuk is needed

The place is believed to be the landing place of Princess Vihara Maha Devi, who later became the queen of King Kawan Tissa. She is the mother of much acclaimed King Dutu Gamunu. Believed to be belonging to a history spanning more than 2000 years!
