Taipingshan is a must place to visit in Yilan, the scenery is breathtaking. We went to Cui Feng lake, the largest alpine lake in Taiwan and also the Taipingshan villa, the entrance to the numerous walking trails.

Arriving at Taipingshan in the heavy fog. Not raining but wet when get out of car. Enter magnificent building commemorating all the yellow cypress wood taken from this mountain by the Japanese loggers up until 1950s

The best way to go there is by rental car or taxi. As limited public transport is only available on weekends or long holidays. It is safe there to hike alone, however going there with companions would be a better choice. If... More
