It had been a couple of years since we had been to the zoo. Last time the Orangutans had moved into new quarters and the elephants were preparing to move into their new habitat. The giraffes have changed places and now the zoo is working on a new habitat. The most stunning thing though was walking into the main entrance... More

This zoo is not cheap, about 20 bucks per ticket for out-of-towners. But its very pretty, with lots of green and shade, and a lot to offer. There are tigers and leopards and elephants and gorillas. We saw many really awesome birds just hanging out right there. There was a peacock just sitting in the tree. Many various storks and... More

We enjoy visiting zoos in the U.S. and around the world and this is one of the better ones we have been to. They don't have a large variety of animals but what they do have are well kept and very healthy. The zoo in easy to walk around and see everything and the staff was very helpful and quite... More

Very nice zoo, with a variety of animal exhibits. The grounds are well laid out and beautifully planted.

This was a pretty decent zoo. Some good big cats and I've never seen such large Jaguars. But then again it could be because you're able to get so close to them. Just a plate of glass away. The kids loved it too.

We went on the Saturday after Thanksgiving but there were no crowds even though the weather was a perfect; sunny and 68 degrees. The animals are in natural environments - no cages. Loved the aviary so we were close to many many species of birds. The layout was confusing so that even with a map we had to ask how... More

What a fun place! There was plenty of shade although I don't know if going in the summer is a good idea.

We arrived 3 hours before the zoo closed but I really wish we have had more time because there was a lot to see. Back home in Monroe, our zoo is itty bitty so this looked like Disney's Animal Kingdom compared to our zoo! They was a lot to see and do! The animals were beautiful, though some of the... More

The zoo was great. We enjoyed the exhibits and the kids had fun with their cousins. The only reason why I am not rating this experience with 5 stars is because of the dining experience. We had to wait ridiculously long to get served and the prices for what you get are high. They would not take the next order... More

We had a fun day at zoo. It was a cool day and we took the trolley and walked through the park. The zoo is in a beautiful setting. There are several open displays. The white tiger, gorillas, and orangatang were great photo opportunities. Definitely a nice day in New Orleans

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
