Neighbourhood: French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

My husband & I first heard of this place from a You-Tube video. We decided to do the Seance Paranormal Experience for $89 a person. There were about 12 of us present for the seance. We sat around the table and Bloody Mary asked each of us if we wanted to speak to someone departed or to find out more about our spirit guides. I was skeptical but some people seemed to be affected by what she was saying.
The second half of the experience involved us splitting into 2 groups and exploring the upstairs rooms. At no point did I feel anything weird or heavy but YMMV. We used dowsing rods and other electronic equipment to try to contact any spirits. The only thing that made me nervous was when one of the devices said my name.
I'm still not convinced that there was anything spooky going on but it was an interesting experience.

hi , Yes pretty much it is the way the night goes and this supernartural pstsnotmsl experience is designed to introduce you to mehods of comuninction, perhaps developing your intiution and tuning it in but yes YMMV ! so some peole get it deper than others!
for sure eveything is about sender and recievers abiities! so when you use it, it develops. Therre are many, many hundreds of paranormal experiences that occur weekly but the ghosts ar e not on the payroll , We hope to open you up you to the unseen worlds and the other side of New Orleans, I wamt to spark your i curioisity
and intuitiion as well as communincte and educate. I beleive these are natural things we as humans and others can benefit from; I am not out to spook you or force anything that is not wanting to come through, the reality of ghost hunting and seance is that nothing might come through as you expect it or at all- some nights more than others , some people more than ohers. But you learn form all of it includingother opleles experiences. Patience is a virtue and these things are not like Hollywood quick- relax and let it happen or not. i dont force the living or the dead, they just are witness...
hope to see you again

There's certainly a great collection of stuff, stories, and history, both collected and in the building itself. The only real downfall was the self guided tour's app for Android. The numbers don't sink up quite right, it only displays 11, though there are many more. Also, it would be helpful if the staff showed you an example of what to look for to find the numbers before you head into the tour

We went to this museum because it sounded interesting and we were curious. While the exhibits were interesting (& downright creepy at times), we did not appreciate the rude woman working there. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel like we were the biggest inconvenience to her. No hello, no are you here for the tour, nothing. I would have liked to have asked some questions and rated this place higher but the hostility from this employee was intolerable.

Museum consists of a few small rooms crammed with various bits of paraphernalia and memorabilia. More like a junk shop (not in a bad way) than a true museum. Would have liked more info about the stuff. OK for a rainy day.

We went in and paid for the self-guided tour. They offer an app to download or an incompleted print of the layout and points of interest. Our adventure was brief and minimally entertaining. Downstairs, they do readings. The upstairs is a room full of dolls. Creepy in their own right but disappointing when we found out on another tour that the building was actually the site of a murder. That would have been a better selling point for our group versus a room full of dolls.

Be realistic before going, and you'll enjoy it. It's not a fancy museum in a big building. It's a small voodoo museum in an old building, which is part of its charm. There are some neat artifacts, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Not a place to go if the topic doesn't interest you, but it's a nice place for what it is.

Spooky as hell, especially the 2nd floor. Had some trouble with the self guided tour app, but thr team was quick to accommodate. The narrative was really interesting. Wish we could've stayed longer and done a ghost hunt.

Highly recommend the 2:00pm walking tour for St. Louis #1 Cemetery. I was there on Monday Jan.20,2020. Michael
Bill was our tour guide. We learned alot about the history of New Orleans, Voodoo & Hoodoo. Michael would answer any questions we had. Don't leave New Orleans without taking this tour! This tour is a must to do and you will not forget it. I can't wait to take another tour with Michael Bill. God Bless you, Michael

This town has an incredible amount of museums. Many are just 2-3 rooms with assorted junk, trinkets, garbage that they charge way too much to see. In some of these, even reading everything they have, it might be a 10 minute experience, 15 minutes tops. I do not mind so much if i's free or $5.00 but anything more is highway robbery.
This is one of those places.
As a tourist, you really need to make sure you do your homework on attractions you are visiting beforehand, as some of these are a complete waste of money listings and there is no point even bothering. I cannot even see a super fan finding the cost worth it on many of these "museums" that you can get through in 15 minutes that prove no real story or narrative. It's like a garage sale of dirty filth they charge for.
Beware!

Sorry you did not enjoy the usual 30 minute Guided tour of the Huanted Museum on Rampart street . Your complaint about a 10 min tour is way off unless you tagged on to the end of one and didn't stay for the parts you missed on the next? This is not a self guided tour like many of the New Orleans museums you limp this review into so to say, "even if you read everything" is not really an accurate description of the Haunted museum nor is it a 10 min experience, There is not the reading aspect here we chose the human touch to go with the spirit edge and chose guided tour that you are paying for. The ghost photo gallery alone could take more time than that if you were actually looking at ea the ectoplasmic photos from The Bloody Mary collection or the ghost photo book collections on display there too, I assume you are not a paranormal or voodoo person for there is the Hall of altars too and the Victorian Seance room display you don't mention plus the entire apartment upstairs which is a sought after New Orleans experience to be in the Zack and Addie "Murder house on Rampart". So if you did not realize these things then you may not have not have actually taken this particular museum tour at all or you did not hear a large part of it being busy jotting your commentary? You don't have to like this museum but to use this review as a platform to lodge your dislike for the all independent small museums over $5 as highway robbery and to say it is a bad joke without listing 1 specific accurate thing about this place in particular is both suspicious and unfair. This review is from your 1/2 empty glass - but I guess some people look at life that way. Merry Christmas and Try to have a Happy New Year!

I was in New Orleans about 2 months ago and had the pleasure of visiting Bloody Mary's Haunted Museum. The collection of oddities in the shop, the voodoo doll station, and the trademark New Orleans jush made the visit one I've talked about since I've left. Full of haunted objects, a seance room, and a lovely shrine to Marie LaVeau there is so much in this one stop. And as if what I mentioned above isn't enough, the stories are to die for!

Greetings
Thank you for your review and love your cool comment "the stories are to die for" LOL ! Nice to have some funny in here and glad you dd the doll making bar- its become very popular. We collect the moss from sacred grove, gather the sticks form special trees. We then make the doll bases here in house w a special voodoo magic touch and you decorate up with intention- we bless ''em, you name 'em, task 'em too. Remember to feed your voodoo dolls- oils, perfume, coffee, rum etc. a little dab is enough Monty to keep her activated!! We just started our Victorian Seances to the public this month so come join us sometimes! PS Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau thanks you for the mention. thanks again, Bloody Mary

Hello! I see that a year ago someone asked if the kitchen was still there. Has anything changed since then? Coming to New Orleans next week!
Written August 5, 2021
The apartment (kitchen included) is still there!

PLUS the museum is free with our walking or van city cemetery tours or ghost hunt and seance events. There is a $13 museum cost for guided tour at museum now and it now includes out great App, to take a long with you inside and to other locations too- storytelling, video, para evidence, a blog and more are all in one.
