After a long day of football (GO GATORS), a dining time of 6:30pm at a restaurant close by, then visiting a few other locations, we finally made our way back to out hotel and discovered this gem! The Jazz music was awesome, the drinks were perfect, and it was great to be able to just walk upstairs after enjoying some... More

We visited several times last week, as we were fortunate enough to be staying at the Royal Sonesta hotel where the club is located. What a fabulous show! The artists are ALL Fantastic musicians. They involve the audience and interact with both the audience and other band members superbly. The whole experience is a not to be missed one when... More

We paid for reserved seats and are glad we did. The venue, which is seating for all guests, was packed. They serve good small bites, good drinks and excellent music. We plan to go back again before we leave.

We went for Germaine Bazzle, and she was brilliant, backed by superb jazz musicians who were having a great time riffing and responding to each other. We had alcohol-free drinks (cucumber, lime, and ginger ale) and a chunk of bread pudding with whisky sauce to die for, but it was the music, the subtle brilliance, the joy, the pleasure of... More

What a great place for Jazz Music and Gerald French Trio was a treat. And the manager and wait staff all made you feel as if you were Long lost family members. And the food was killer as we had 3 appetizers and they were all very good. What a great quaint venue.

We stopped in after eating at Desires Oyster Bar. We had a wonderful time.e tired The band was awesome with a great singer and back up band. Played terrific songs and we danced the night away. Our feet were tired the next morning but worth it for the fun we had.

We were in New orleans for ten days and we went to Irvin Mayfield's 4 times. The second time we went there one of the servers, Cihinell recognized us and welcomed us back. It is always nice to be recognized. The music was awesome we saw The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band twice, Gerald does a great job leading the band,... More

Our tour guide chose this location especially for what she promised would be an exceptional jazz experience. She had once worked there and was shocked by our poor experience. There was just an average piano jazz musician who took a 45 minute break (we left). The tables were scattered haphazardly and there were no servers. I had to go to... More

Just steps from the mania of Bourbon Street, Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse in the Royal Sonesta Hotel is a great place to experience New Orleans Jazz. In fact, with all the great venues to hear jazz in New Orleans, we liked Mayfield's so much we came back twice. The first night we arrived there, the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band was... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
