Bike through the little seen parts of New Orleans with us and take a ride...

Bike through the little seen parts of New Orleans with us and take a ride through the rebirth of a historical neighborhood. See not only the damage from Hurrican Katrina, but the uplifting rebuilding; and more importantly, why the neighborhood needed to survive. We'll visit the levee, learn about the musical culture, and meet Ronald Lewis, local historian and curator of the House of Dance and Feathers. Definitely an unforgettable day.

I'm so glad we went on this tour on our first full day in New Orleans. We learned so much about Katrina and the resilient people of the Ninth Ward. Our tour guide, LeAnn, is a native of the community and a font of knowledge. I especially loved visiting The House of Dance and Feathers and meeting Mr.. Lewis. What... More

Great experience to stand in the neighborhood of the 9th ward and see the size and scale of the river and canal. Our tour guide lived in the 9th ward at the time of the hurricane and still lives there today. Great tour. Worth the time and money.

Very good tour. Learned a lot and was able to put into context so much of what I'd read about Katrina. LeeAnn was our knowledgeable guide. I paired this with a visit to the Presbytere state museum on Jackson Square for their great Katrina exhibit.

Theresa was an excellent guide and gave profound explanation about actual and earlier situation in NOLA and 9th Ward. We were a small group had nice weather and also the bikes were well adjusted. The preparation and communication before the tour was very good and the visit of the house of masks and feathers is extraordinary interesting. I highly recommend... More

This is a fantastic way to get to know part of the city and witness the ongoing (hi)story of the ninth ward. Our guide was super, she was knowledgeable and helped us be able to respectfully connect with the ninth ward community and learn their story from them. It's also a lovely bike ride.

Did you ever ask yourself how come more than a decade after, the strongest superpower of the a world still has reports on the aftermath of hurricane Katrina? This has been the first bicycle tour that I have ever taken, and cycling is truly the most intimate way of learning on the fabric that makes a community. Our guide, Leanne,... More

The ninth ward rebirth bike tour was an amazing opportunity to visit an area that is outside of the French Quarter and typical tourist destinations. A stop at the amazing House of Dance and Feathers along with the information provided in the tour itself left me with a lot to think about and more to research about this amazing city... More

Bike tours are such an excellent way to see a city, and this was no different. Our guide was knowledgeable and personable, and gave us a great overview of NOLA, and specifically Ninth Ward, history. Ron Lewis, a Katrina survivor, was a great addition - showing us all the goods in his museum and sharing his personal stories. It was... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
