This place basically stole $65. Friends had pooled their money to give me a gift card (admittedly a while back). Unfortunately when I tried to use it recently I was told they expire after one year. Gift cards should not expire! The person working was apologetic, but it was not his call to make. My mission is to make sure... More

I'm terribly sorry that you were unable to use your gift card. Electronic gift cards are automatically set to expire after one year. The computer system that has records of the purchased amount of your out of date gift card had been replaced about three years ago, so there is no way to verify the amount of the purchased gift... Helpful staff explained how the tasting works, and it looks like you are tasting it from a tap. Good choices and price ranges vary. It's was a fun and new way to decide what to purchase, a must stop for wine lovers.

Nice place where you can plan your own wine tasting session. Relax, great wines including some very special, from all over the world. Grab a cheese plate and just enjoy.

This is a cute little wine bar with walls of Enomatic machines. I love Enomatic machines because you can purchase and taste wine by the ounce. It gets a little expensive but it's a ton of fun. You check in at the hostess stand and get a card to use in the machines. Your tasting card is your bar tab,... More

An upscale wine by the glass and you have loud hip hop music playing. I enjoyed speaking with the staff and learning about the wines and the dispensers but my gosh the music was not to our liking. We had one drink and left.

I spotted the sign from across the street: "W.I.N.O." I told my husband that I had to get a picture. Turns out it said, "Wine Institute of New Orleans." Turns out that they have walls full of wine bottles that you can sample -- very cool! You insert a card which tallies what you have tried -- either a 1,... More

My husband and I stopped in here and had a great time trying the different selections. I love going to wine bars that allow you to taste before you get a full glass. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. Still I will say that the prices were pretty high for the 1 Oz, 2 Oz, 4oz portions. We also... More

Thanks to Austin and the team at WINO for a lovely evening! A great, unique concept where you can sample a huge range of wines from all around the world at very reasonable prices. And the food to accompany the wine was just beautiful - a selection of cheeses, dips, fruit, crusty bread and crackers. Keep up the great work.

A brilliant idea of offering world class wines (via a nitrogen filled dispensing system) along with tapas (cheese, meats, crackers). All you need to remember is to retrieve your credit card from the very helpful / knowledgable servers who have loaded the chip-equipped key card (which activates the liquid ambrosia flow from the taps). Your pallet will be in rapture,... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
