At the Irish Cultural Museum of New Orleans you will experience a beautiful Spanish Courtyard among colonial buildings, and a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The Museum consists of interactive kiosks, an auditorium featuring the award winning documentary "Irish New Orleans", a research and reading library, artifacts, and a very unique Coffee House with Gifts and Jewelry specializing in Celtic and Irish New Orleans themed products. This very unique learning facility is the result of a two year collaboration of individuals who are very passionate about the City of New Orleans, its history and its cultures. Audio/Video producers, photographers, researchers, archivists, historians, computer programmers, graphic designers, architects, interior designers, developers, community leaders, and many other have all worked to bring to life the first Museum of its kind in New Orleans. A Monument to the vibrant culture of the City's Irish and their heritage.

We found this small building by accident and are we glad we did! We saw a wonderful video of the history of the Irish in New Orleans and those who helped others. Patrick (McCarty) was extremely knowledgeable about Irish history, both past and present. Friendly and helpful Nick (Rodriguez) makes a great Irish Coffee, very welcome on a cold day!... More

We booked the museum in the early part of the year for a late in the year wedding. We told the owners that we anticipated 75-100 guests. Big mistake in believing them in that they could accomodate that many guests. Our poor guests were tripping over each other and some didn't have a place to sit and eat. At best... More

We regret that this client was not completely satisfied with our space and services, however the number of guest that attended their event were more than they contracted for. We do our best to be very clear about the possibilities our unique and intimate French Quarter Courtyard Venue offers. More

Myself and my gf easily found the ICM located in the French quarter. We went into the coffee shop in the back where we met Matthew (the owner). We ended up having a coffee and chatting for a good hour on the Irish influence and migration to New Orleans over the past few centuries. Matthew explained the impact of the... More

This tiny space tells of the Irish who emigrated to New Orleans around the time that the East coast got their Irish populations, and with the same results. The Irish found that they were considered sub-human, below free persons of color or even African slaves, many of home served as craftspeople in this bustling city. So they took the jobs... More

We visited because we are getting married in New Orleans next year and wanted to check out the venue. It is absolutely a quiet spot in the middle of the French Quarter that I would suggest checking out if you're looking for a cup of coffee or a drink and it's not just because we're getting married there! The courtyard... More

This smaller museum, offers a quaint alternative to the rowdy Bourbon Street crowd. Being of Irish descent, this was a must-see for my husband. We were not disappointed. The content is educational and ties into the local landmarks and culture of New Orleans. The open courtyard is a nice touch, especially when the music is playing outside. We visited the... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
