Extraordinary sculpture in a beautiful setting. Audio tours available, but we just walked and discussed. No charge for this great attraction. Make sure to stop by NOMA as well. Good art museum with some gems as well.

I wasn't necessarily a fan of all the work I saw. But in a way that's the point right, provoke thought! So, with that being said. I think its a must see. It's free. The grounds are beautiful. There's bathrooms.

We had fun looking at all the sculptures - but the best part was eavesdropping on other people's reactions to the art! You have everything from classic to modern to odd. It can be a challenge to get a picture without others in the background.

Our Southern Style Tour took us to the NOLA city park and we stopped across from the Sculpture Garden for a break. My husband and I took a leisurely stroll through the garden and enjoyed all the oddities found there. There are many little bridges to cross that will take you to another section. Children can enjoy the little train... More

Beutiful statues with an interesting twist in a beautiful environment. Enjoy the lovely peaceful park witch is bigger than Central Park in NY.

This place felt a million miles away from Bourbon Street. It was peaceful, beautiful and easily accessible from the city centre. We absolutely loved the sculptures which were many and varied and beautifully displayed. And lunch in the restaurant completed the experience.

As a native New Orleanian, I am so grateful for this wonderful, free, outdoor museum. I visit City Park often and love to stroll through this garden. It is especially beautiful during the Spring when the flowers are blooming. This is also a great place to just sit and chill or visit with friends.

The sculpture garden is adjacent to the NOMA within the City Park. No admission charge. Beautiful, relaxing park-like environment. The sculpture installations are scattered around the area. They are very interesting and imaginative. We are definitely not art sophisticates, so we probably missed most of the hidden meanings. That said, we very much enjoyed looking at them. Children and teenagers... More

Recommended by a colleague at work. So glad we found time to take the Canal Streetcar down to the end of the line. Easy walk in and not very crowded at 4:30pm on a weekday so you could take your time cruising through the garden. Wish we had more time to explore the entire park itself. Very relaxing stroll through a park and looking at sculptures, gardens and water. This is part of The City Park, a great place to spend the day. Walking shoes and a camera are a good idea. This is free.

Staying in Lakeview

Neighbourhood Profile
Lakeview extends inland from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain with much of the area reserved for family-friendly City Park. Home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and the city’s own lush Botanical Gardens, City Park is a New Orleans gem and the perfect spot for outdoor fun with as much of a mix of culture and/or amusement as you would like. Beyond City Park more great excuses to stay outside beckon, whether on land or by boat. Developed a good deal later than most other New Orleans neighborhoods, Lakeview has a distinctively different look and feel compared to other parts of the city. Fans of mid century modern design and contemporary architecture particularly enjoy leisurely drives around the residential streets of Lake Vista, Park Island and along Lakeshore Drive.
