Or maybe not so quiet in my particular experience! It was a hot afternoon at the Treme Fall Festival, and the church with open windows provided the perfect retreat from the heat, whilst still permitting the sounds of the jazz performers on stage to be...More

Fabulous small fest at the church and grounds. Good food, good music, beautiful church. A must do. When the weather is hot, welcome relief is found inside.

Did not go inside on this visit, but brought my out of town guest. Lovely houses surround the church.

I was surprised to find that this was a Catholic gospel church. The parish was very welcoming. This music was wonderful.

As usual the Catholics are long winded ( 65% Catholic in NOLA) but the service was great and the music fabulous especially the woman sax player. This old Treme church is beautiful and the West African priest does a mean sermon.

Lovely church which has the grave of the unknown slave. The grave consists of a cross with actual slave chains and handcuffs hanging from it. We wanted to pay our respects there. Unfortunately we were not there on a Sunday to go to mass at...More

That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi
that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere
else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the
streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered
to be the very best of New Orleans culture and
tradition is, put simply, just how people go about
their daily lives in this historic part of town. As
one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods
