We took some old Lutheran friends to Maranatha to hear the Prez and were sadly disappointed. Carter is still the same self-righteous windbag of old. Spent the time hectoring congregation on proper ways to respond to singing (no applause) and touting his own superior sense of equal justice. Not much about relationship with the almighty. If you go, wear your... More

We were fortunate enough to get into the church to attend Presiden Carter's bible class on Mother's Day. The church staff are kind and helpful. The entry process is very organized. We stayed the night before in Americus and got up at 5:30 a.m. in order to get in line. We were car number 23. President Carter is 93 years... More

I was fortunate to attend President Carters bible class at the Church. The staff was amazing at getting everyone in and out. They prepared us for the former presidents talk and made me feel right at home in their church. If you have the opportunity to do this...do it.

When we had to get up early, drive an hour, arrive by 7:00 a.m. and wait another 3 hours, I had my doubts about visiting the church just to see President Carter. But it was so worth it. I would recommend staying in Plains, if possible, or another nearby town. Arrive no later than 7:00 a.m. because you never know... More

We were fortunate enough to attend President Carter's Sunday School class on Easter Sunday. President Carter is a gracious and humble man whose work for humanity is an inspiration. Thank you for a thoughtful, inclusive lesson, and, thank you President and Mrs. Carter for giving your time after the service for photo opportunities. We were greeted by George, who welcomes... We drove to the church just to see what it looked like. The church is locked so we just looked from the outside.

This has been on out bucket list for years and I'm glad we finally made it happen. Get there early (before 8 am) because the sanctuary will fill up. You will not get to meet the president without a special appointment ahead of time. Everyone who stays for worship gets a photo. It all operates as a well oiled machine.... More

Awesome experience!! I wasn't excited about going, but my wife talked me into it and it was the best! It is really cool to see the whole process of the secret service and the bomb sniffing dogs. Jimmy Carter was fabulous and gracious. He is just a humble, genuine person!!! Get there early!

Members of my Sunday School class traveled to hear Jimmy Carter teach Sunday School at Maranatha Baptist Church in late March. From everything we'd read, we planned to and arrived at 6:45 a.m. We had to wait a few minutes in line until we reached the attendant who told us we were car number 95. You park, wait in your...
