We just passed it as we were driving back to the hotel. We stopped to visit the castle but it wasn't open anymore (it was also after 17:00). It was a gorgeous castle with a lot of green. You could even start a hiking route there. I think that visiting the castle with a guide would be nice

Beautiful location. Only open on Monday at 4pm...we thought that meant any time between 4-5...not so. The one and only tour is at 4. We were able to see the inside briefly. It looks like it could be an awesome venue.

We attended the Austrian music and dance show in the castle on the Tuesday evening. The show itself was really good but even better was the opportunity to look around the castle during the interval. The castle was interesting and the views over Kaprun are just amazing.

Unprofessional and unreliable! Think twice before booking this location. We would avoid using the burg as a venue.
We were planning on having our wedding at the Burg. All the details, except for the caterer, were set in stone, including all of our out of town and out of the country guests having rooms booked near the Burg.
Two months before our wedding, Mischa cancelled our wedding after we made a suggestion to use a different caterer. Of Her caterers (four choices only), two were booked, one was out of the question and the other was unimpressive. The one we wanted lied to us when he said he was free to work our wedding, and he made us wait a month before saying he took a different, bigger customer. Mischa blamed us for waiting too long when we literally were delayed a month by her preferred caterer that lied to us delaying everything.
If you want your event to be canceled very last minute, then book the burg. Mischa added so much stress to our lives, when planning a wedding is already stressful enough. Having spoken to other local Austrians, she is known to be a difficult person. Avoid the Burg at all costs.

We did the once a week tour on Mondays. It was very interesting and heartening to hear how local enthusiasts have revitalised the building

It has the best view on Kaprun- you can see tbe village, all the mountains, the ski roads, the river.
Couldn't buy a ticket, as it was closed. Seen the inside of the walls, really nice. I think inside is even nicer.
Jn the wibter you have to be cautious with the snow falling from the roof - they warn you.

The Old Castle of Kaprun is almost the skeleton of the former Burg, but in very good shape and some events are made here. You can get there also by bike or foot from the nearest trails heading from Kaprun or Zell am see. Parking lot is just in front of the Castle and is only for visitors. It is a very fast visit, when I was there in August it was closed (by I was too late when biking from Zell). It is unique and you should enjoy the old Castle and view of the valley, it gives you a bit of history.

We have visited the Burg Fest for two years now and every year we enjoy it so much. The atmosphere is just brilliant. The food was great, the settingamazing and our 5 year old son just loved playing knight for the day. We would highly recommend it to families
