A frequent visitor to Mayrhofen over the last 20 years our ability to walk has changed but the walks are still suitable for us. There are many mountain huts to visit, some easy walking but others challenging. All are well sign-posted and the estimated times...More

The Stillup Valley is one of the most unspoilt valleys leading off from the end of the Zillertal valley at Mayrhofen. We caught a minibus from opposite the Europahaus at the bottom of Mayrhofen. They run at half-hourly intervals from 8.00am to about lunchtime, and...More

There are many walking trails around Mayrhofen, many involving strenuous climbs into the mountains but others that are much easier. We generally found the hiking trails to be well made, well marked and well sign-posted. We walk reasonably quickly so always found the times indicated...More

We have attempted several walks and even with a small child in tow and adding an extra hour to the suggested times, it has taken longer. The walks are so beautiful though, so in good weather, it really doesn't matter!!

Easy walks along the river near to hotel. Lovely views up in the mountains, although cablecars were expensive. Very good value on the trains.

Where do you get the laminated walking map from? This will be our first visit to Mayrhofen and I am finding it hard to get specific walk route information online. Is it easy enough once you get there to get the information in English? Thanks Ali

We got a really good set of four maps of the Zillertal area from the tourist office in Zell am Ziller about five kilometres from Mayrhofen. As it was produced by the official Zillertal organisation, I would assume it is... More
Is there someplace where we can rent hiking polls in the summer in Mayrhofen? Also are there any high mountain hiking trails that take about 4-5 hours. Would like something without steep drop-offs as I am afraid of heights.

Our Hotel in Mayrhofen supplied hiking poles free of charge. They also had a hotel mountain guide who conducted brilliant hiking tours (free of charge) I suppose that other Hotels may do that, too. There are lots of hiking... More
