Great to see turtles so close

Not sure what the distance law was for getting close to the turtles, we were happy to give them their space regardless. Nice beach, great place for rest or picnic. and certainly... read more

Whether you walk in from the highway or drive down to the beach access, both ways in are a challenge with 20+ minute walks to the ocean. Be sure to take water, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. with you as there are no amenities. The beach close to the area where turtles are located is not really a beach; almost no... More

The hike in can be long, but it is well with it ! We saw twenty plus turtles on shore and even more in the water . The snorkeling is interesting as the water has thermal gradients due to the fresh water springs in the area, it is interesting to swim through and the abundance of sea life is amazing!

Kiholo Bay is a wonderfully quiet beach for walking or watching the turtles. It's a little tough to get to so there are not usually many people here. Mostly stones and lava, it makes for a sunny spot for a number of honus, who feed offshore and pull themselves out for resting. There is a stable trail in places but... More

What a great outing. We had time to kill, and two kids who needed to get out. It's a short, easy hike from the highway to the beach. Once there, we discovered the old fish ponds built by King K and my boys donned snorkel gear and shot through the channel connecting the ponds to the ocean with the sea... More

The hike to Kihilo Bay is well worth it. We saw tons of turtles both in the water and on the rocks resting. The water was a bit cold with all the fresh water seeping in through springs but it felt good on a hot day. Make sure to swim in the cool fresh water lava tube found south of... More

The sea turtles gather on the beach to warm themselves and rest. A great place to see turtles. The black sand is unique. We've seen turtles both in the water and on the beach every time we go. Love this place.

Great place to see sea turtles and enjoy beautiful beach views for sunrise or sunsets or just enjoy a picnic on a beach.

You can see this spot from the highway and it looks amazing. It completely holds up! We hiked in from mile marker 82 and parked right off the road in a pull off. The trail is not marked but you will find your way through the brown lava rock and trees. Quite the little adventure. It took us about 20... More

We parked up on the highway and hiked down. Super easy hike so don't be worried. I thought we could access the beach a bit earlier by using Google maps but where I thought we could get in there was a fenced gated property. Had to walk a little further but still wasn't bad though. About 1 mile from the... More
