Learned so much about the land and culture of Hawaii on this tour. Delicious meal, all protective gear supplied, and comfortable van. Our guide, Joe, was quiet and kind to all; always took extra care to make sure we were safe, were dressed for the cold weather at summit, had acclimated to the altitude, and all returned timely. His enthusiasm... More

This will be a short review as the trip was cancelled a few hours before. I appreciate that Hawaii Forest and Trail were professional enough to cancel, and that the weather is unpredictable, even right up to the event. I was offered the ability to re-schedule, unfortunately this was our last day in Hawaii. As I really wanted to see... More

We had a tour booked to the observatory..and bad weather hit. They were professional enough to cancel the tour vs some other game of part of a tour and not delivering the whole package. I would book with them again at a drop of a hat. Staff was professional (we did not get the message...our fault) and when we arrived... More

So happy I decided to do this tour! The bus is a 12 seater but quite spacious. Bags can be stored under your seat. The food options are vegetarian which looked like a tofu wrap or a chicken with mango sauce, rice and veggies. Pretty good food and plenty of it! To see the sunset though you do eat quite... More

Very back country and off the beaten path. They picked us up in Kona and took us to Hawi were we got on an off road vehicle to take us to our starting point for a hike to 7+ waterfalls. It was up hill and down but the pace and stops for information about what we were seeing made it... More

We had a wonderful trip. Our guide, Hank, while pretty new with the company, was very knowledgeable and shared interesting history about the area and mountain. We saw an amazing sunset and more stars than I've ever seen before. Other highlights- good food, clean new big van, good pacing of the outing. I'd go again with this company for sure.... More

We were picked up near our hotel, and went on the tour of a lifetime. Nate was very knowledgeable of the geography, history, and astronomy throughout the evening. We stopped at an abandoned sheep farm for dinner (and there are spirits there if you are sensitive to that). This was to acclimate us to the altitude before going further up.... More

A friend since third grade and I took this trip to celebrate our 65th birthdays. One of the most important items was to see the volcanoes. Our hotel concierge made the arrangements with this company as they were known to have the best experience with this type of trip. We left the hotel at 9:30 in the morning and did... More

We were picked up in Kona and then drove north for about an hour to the company's 'transit' centre and base where we swapped over to the 6 wheel drive vehicles (a Pinzgauer) which would take us off-road to the start of our walk. The Pinzgauer is great fun, but the bench seating in the back is very basic so... More

Mark, our very knowledgeable driver and guide, led us on the Twilight Volcano Journey. Our first stop in Hawaii Volcano National Park was the Jaggar Museum—and the Kilauea Volcano was active! Less than two miles away at the Halemaumau Crater two fiery flumes ejected lava upward and outward. Mark, a geology graduate from the University of Hawaii, knew a lot... More
