We went with our adult daughter. Its about 20 minutes N of Ali'i drive then you have to take a left. Watch the sign not to miss it. Everyone recommends a 4WD or SUV to go to this beach. We took a chance and drove...More

My friend and I spent the day here swimming and snorkeling. It is beautiful with white sand and very few rocks in the water. If you go to the sides of the beach it is nice snorkeling. Go early, it gets crowded.

Beautiful sandy beach of white sand and gentle surf. Sea turtles on the beach and swimming in the cove. We were there at dusk.

If you are looking to get away from the crowds of people this is it. Once you leave the main road it is a very rough drive through a lava rock field. You don't need 4 wheel drive but a SUV or something with high...More

We went when it was windy in Waikoloa bc it is sheltered by trees. Waves can still get pretty big. The road in is super 4x4 and the parking can be quite busy. We really liked this beach though!

fantastic place, well worth the walk and the bumpy drive to get there. We went on a rainy day and it was still amazing!

The lava road can be travelled by any car just go slow (Jeep or SUV ideal as there are lots of ruts). We were only able to snorkel briefly as the current was too strong the day we visited, however we heard it was usually...More

With a sandy beach and a sandy bottom, a nice surf break, and clean facilities, this is by far our favorite beach on the island. Go during the week and get there early if you want to park near the access. The only negatives are...More

No a taxi would not go here. My suggestion would be to visit Hapuna Beach Park. It is further away from Kona but a great beach day and doesn't require a walk.
