- Jimmy E1 contributionfun trip through the bay and islandsRented a boat for a self captained trip around the bay fishing for halibut. It was a cold and rainy day but the bay was beautiful and we managed to see a lot of dolphins popping about. We managed to catch quite a few rockfish, some halibut and cod. overall a good trip that id do again, just be prepared for the weather so that you are comfortable.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten January 15, 2024
- Kyle Smith8 contributionsPrivate charter: ProposalSimply the best! I booked the private charter for my proposal and it was the most perfect day. Truly a unforgettable experience. I can’t speak highly enough of the Millers Staff. They are the best and I hope one day we get to return and do the same charter. The places we were able to see/visit on the charter were otherworldly to a city boy from Florida. Alaska is an incredible place. Thank you all!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten March 22, 2024
- Jamie V5 contributionsWater Taxi Ride to Aialik BayHad an amazing early morning trip to Aialik Bay. From the comfort of a heated cabin on the water taxi captain Craig stopped to show us a variety of sea life along the water’s stretching from Resurrection Bay to Aialik Bay. Abby the lead kayak guide at Miller’s was full of knowledge about the waters, glaciers and history making for an even more interesting trip. If you have a chance to visit Miller’s Landing while in Seward I highly recommend them.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten May 6, 2024
- Akanksha D1 contributionMust-do in Kenai Fjords. Most amazing guides - Ron, Ryan and Issac.Having done both kayaking and the kenai fjords cruise tour back to back in the same trip, I can definitely say that Kayaking is a much better way to truly experience the Kenai Fjords wilderness (in comparison to doing the cruise). Had the most amazing experience kayaking the Aialik Bay in Kenai Fjords. Our guides - Ron, Ryan and, Issac were great. They went out of the way to ensure all of us were comfortable and taken care of. They gave a great tutorial on how to kayak, and guided us throughout the day trip. They were very knowledgable about the area and familiarized us with all the marine life that we saw on our way. Sipping hot chocolate prepared by them, after a tiring kayak session on a secluded beach will be a memorable experience for me!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 27, 2024

We got to see all 3 glaciers in the bay, explored tons of coves, and saw endless sealife. Ron was the best guide we could have asked for. He is so passionate and knowledgable about the fjord. He always put our comfort over his own and is simply a great person to spend time with. Because of him, we made memories that will last a lifetimeVisited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten June 8, 2024

Ryan N. was our trip guide, he was very educated, professional, humble, taught us an abundance of information about the local area and all the animals, Attuned to personal needs. He went above what we expected to make our trip a lifetime memory. Liquid sunshine all 11 miles. Boat taxi was great! We saw Seals, sea lions, sea otters, black bear, hump back whales and Orcas and eagles. Many many types of birds. Best tour on our trip. Thank you Ryan!!!Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten June 13, 2024
- Graham K1 contributionBest of AlaskaWe did the Best of Alaska tour and it was, by far, the best thing one could do in Seward and one of the best tours we did during a two week trip to Alaska. It was a perfect mix of sightseeing, fishing and exploring the glacier on kayaks. The crew (Capt. Paul, Isaac, Clay and Ron) knew that they were doing and worked well together. There was no down time, but one could just sit back and relax if they wanted to. Also, the food is good. If you've only got time for one thing in Seward, this is the one you want.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten June 18, 2024

We saw two black bears while kayaking around Aialik Bay and kayaked around a ton of seals. The boat ride to and from our launch point was not crowded.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 20, 2024

We signed up for the half day charter in early September. Our charter was scheduled to go at noon and we were instructed to arrive by 11:30 and we did so. After checking in by 11:30 we waited till 1:15 before having anyone in Millers Landing update us on the delay or say anything at all. Once out on the water finally by 1:30, the captain was very nice and was the lone bright spot of the experience. The fishing on the other hand was awful. We had a full charter and all six of us caught zero fish and had zero bites even. We tried a few different spots by that was the only change they ever made to attempt to change our luck. The delayed take off ended up causing us to get poured on for the last hour as well which was unfortunate because the morning had been great till that point. All in all fishing for 4+ hours on a professional charter and not getting a single bite seems pretty bad especially for the price you pay. We read all the good reviews and thats why we booked here so I wanted to make It know that our outing was quite the opposite, even if our experience might be an outlier. Also wear rubber boots as your feet will get soaked.

Kudos to Clay our deckhand on the Tomasea. He was supportive kind helpful and the best part of our experience. I have worked years in the tour and travelindustry and been on many charters out ofHomerand Seward before and I’ve never had a captain be
such a jerk to his staff or clientele. The deckhand was yelled at and made fun of while doing his best to help us all fish while the captain was yelling and on his phone. We never anchored and drifted all day fishing which caused for multiple tangled lines and he would then yell at us saying that we’re not watching our pole tips or it too late in the day for us to tangle. Or he would move the the boat after we drifted and our lines would tangle and yell at us. A person should not pay over $400 for a combo trip to be yelled at or watch a captain yell at his deckhand whose doing all he can while catching fish. It made it very uncomfortable for all of us to hear and watch happen. When multiple people are needing help a captain should not sit on his butt and yell at his deckhand who is already assisting another person. To top it off it took two hours for our fish to be cleaned , and we had to make a mad dash to the processors before they closed to get it there. Cause the captain was too busy goofing around with the other staff members on shore. This is suppose to be a professional charter, it is too early in a busy season for sarcasm and burnout from a captain and should not be dealing with the clientele. This was my friends first fishing charter ever and she was very upset about how we were treated by the captain and also how Clay was treated. Clay took all the abuse and still tried to make our trip a good one . Did we catch fish? Yes , barely! But not until 11 hrs of constant drifting and listening to the yelling. So much for a great day on the water. Would not recommend this tour to others. Captain was rude mean and we pretty much just wanted to get off the boat and away from the negativity. Hopefully Clay will continue deckhanding and get on a more professional boat with someone to work with and not yelled at. Good luck Clay!

Kayaking: Nate was our guide for the kayaking trip and he was amazing. He accommodating to our vegan diet and we appreciated everything he did for us. The kayaking was relatively easy, but we're experienced outdoors-people so unless you have actual kayaking experience and/or really athletic - do not attempt to kayak 14 miles because it makes things unmanageable for the guide. Try a shorter trip or a boat tour. But if you love kayaking and want to see some amazing scenery, please do sign up and ask for Nate. You won't regret it.
Phone/Support: World class. Always helpful, solution-oriented, and very patient.
Cabin: We rented a cabin, Misty C cabin. Everything you need is in there, working WiFi, stove, oven, plates, cups, pots/pans, and laundry. The cabin was clean, functional, and provided us a nice place to sleep, eat, and check emails. Bring cash for the laundry, it's on the honor system, just drop $5 in the jar.
WaterTaxi: We "did" Caines Head hike and needed a water taxi back to our car. Deb picked us up promptly and got us back in time for our other planned activities.
Conclusion: Get a Cabin at Misty C Cabins, do a kayaking trip with Nate, hike Caines Head and hope Deb picks you up.
Other tips: If you want to take your time with things, try Aialik Glacier kayaking instead of NW. It's closer so you'll have more time at the glacier.

This is our third trip using miller's landing. The first 2 times we were part of a mixed fishing group. This time we had enough family to charter both a half day and a full day trip. This isn't glamping or glishing. The guides are very helpful to take you to the fish, bait your hook and haul in your catch after you reel your fish to the surface When you heed their advice, you get good results. It helps to have some saltwater fishing experience, but it isn't necessary. You get wet. You get cold. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate. They worked with us to get us out on the water ahead of a storm and were very fair to refund a portion since we couldn't go out the whole day on the second day. We limited out on rockfish in 40 minutes. We caught halibut and salmon, and took 150 lb of fish filets to the packer. The staff has always been outgoing and friendly. We will be back soon.

We were originally scheduled on a Northwestern Fjord Overnight Trip. Due to weather and boat troubles, we had to pivot to a day trip to Aialik Glacier. I was impressed with Miller's Landings' professionalism in changing the plans, not only ensuring we were refunded fairly but also making sure we had free accommodations for the now unplanned extra night.
We had Ron as our guide, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. He kept our spirits up, was knowledgeable, and all around was the cherry on top of an amazing trip. There were many great moments: the glacier, kayaking through small ice pieces, seeing wildlife. Even though it was rainy, we all agreed this trip was one of our highlights in our Alaska trip, and to be honest, we simply had a blast with Ron and the other members on the trip.
While I am bummed we were unable to do our original itinerary, I appreciate the efforts that Miller's Landing and Ron especially took to make sure we still had a fantastic trip. I feel that, more than anything, shows the quality of a company!

We scheduled the 15 hour captain's choice a few months out, and excitedly watched as the weather report went from 68% chance of rain down to 21% on the day of the kayaking trip. Our guide, Ron, was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable about the area and knew the best places for waterfalls and animal viewing (land and sea). We saw black bears, sea otters, seals, porpoises, whales, and sea lions (and lots of mosquitos!). We even had a baby seal hanging out around the kayaks, circling and popping up near us.
As it was such a long day, and a bit on the cool side, Ron packed lots of snacks and some hot drinks to have with lunch by the glacier. We were able to watch Holgate Glacier calving - pretty neat!
We were concerned about kayaking for such an extended period of time, but Ron made sure we kept a steady pace, taking breaks when needed. He did a great job of encouraging and motivating us when the sea got a little rough and the mist came in. We would highly recommend this tour, and make sure to ask for Ron!

My friend and I stayed in Uncle Steve’s Cabin. The owner, Tom, and his team were SO friendly, accommodating, and genuinely good at their job. It was a very cold night (February in Alaska tends to be) and Tom ensured that we were taken care of. The cabin itself was honestly the best I’ve been to in Alaska. It’s newly built and has full amenities (full bathroom, full kitchen, heating, etc). It may not be the woodsy cabin/camping people expect because it offers so much. I loved the glamping style! The cabin is rustic chic and has floor to ceiling windows so you still feel you’re outside. There’s a porch area and you can walk to the beach, it’s a beautiful spot for a camp fire. This cabin could easily fit 2 families, 8 people, etc, there was plenty of room. The cabin has simple details that made the stay so homey. I found myself thinking “wow I could stay here for a month!” (if only there was the availability!) We also asked about recommendations because with Covid and the weather, it was hard to know what was open. Tom suggested the Lone Chicharron for dinner and it was delicious! Bonus for us, but not a guarantee for every stay, we got to watch the Northern Lights dance and an incredible sunrise the next morning. I cannot recommend the cabin and this team enough!

This is a review for the Captain’s Choice full day kayaking trip. On this particular trip we went to Aialik Bay and it was unbelievable. Fred and Ron, or “Fron” (you had to be there!) were our guides and they were fantastic. They were funny and kind and it was clear that they loved their jobs and knew what they were doing. I came out to Miller’s Landing as a part of a research for my college and the staff was super accommodating and offered great conversation concerning my topic, especially Fred and Ron. They made sure that everyone was comfortable and having fun at all times and were full of fun facts and quick jokes.
We kayaked through Ailalik Bay after a beautiful boat ride on the Water Taxi where we got to see lots of wildlife and then got set up to kayak. All the necessities for a successful trip were provided, but be sure to bring waterproof clothes and a raincoat! After a quick breakfast, we set off on our amazing trip through the fjords and ice fields in the water with breathtaking sights. We had a delicious lunch from Bario, the café on property, at the foot of Aialik Glacier and had plenty of time to explore around the beach surrounding it. Following that, we continued on our adventure to another stop where we had snacks and coffee and got to hike to see another glacier.
Overall, we got to see 3-4 glaciers and plenty of wildlife like orcas, porpoises, seals, sea lions, otters, and tons of birds. After spending 2 weeks exploring Alaska from Denali to Anchorage, this trip was the best experience I had out of everything else. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who loves adventure, good company, and wants to see amazing wildlife. Thanks to Fred, Ron, and Miller’s Landing for a great trip!!

Hi. I went on a fishing charter today (June 27, 2020) with a few friends. We were guided by Dustin and Jade on the Avery. This was by far the best charter I have been on. We were able to max out on rockfish in a short period of time and then worked on king salmon. We saw orcas, sea otters, puffins, and sea lions. Dustin really knew what he was doing. He was encouraging and helpful and knew the best spots to catch fish. Jade was great at helping bait lines, getting things untangled, and batting/cutting the gills of the fish. She was kind and funny. Overall, I would give this experience a 10/10 and would like to boat with Dustin and Jade again!

We went on the all day kayaking trip to Aialik Glacier. Ron and Liz were our guides and they were fantastic! They were both very personable and knowledgeable and noted points of interest as we went along. Even though the weather was not ideal (it was chilly with light rain off and on), Ron went the extra mile to make it a great experience. He even served hot coffee and hot chocolate to help warm us up at our beach stop for lunch. We highly recommend Ron and Liz and Miller's Landing.
