A beautiful, unspoilt, laid back, peaceful national park in North Karelia, Finland. A stunning place to visit in Summer with amble hiking routes, log cabins and a lake like a millpond in the evenings. This is the most peaceful place I've ever visited with roads...More

Really loved the Paalasmaa and nearby islands..there is actually a ferry which takes you to the islands for free! Scenery is amazing..especially in summer when the sun doesn't set completely. Nearby Koli national park has also stunning views.

Beautiful views from the hill tops around the lake. We were a week too early in the season to benefit from ferry/boat rides on the lake but we enjoyed driving along it and admiring it from Ukko-Koli hill.

Our accommodation was right next to the lake with wonderful views 23 hours a day. We loved walking along the shoreline, path or no path. The forest surrounds the lake and there are plenty of places to feel completely alone in Nature - we found...More
