We visited the gardens and glass-blowing demonstration on a cruise excursion. I thought it would appeal more to others in our group than myself. I was wrong. I found the tour of the gardens kind of fun, and certainly informative, despite the cold and rain. I didn't mind retreating indoors to the glass-blowing studio, where the demonstration ended up being... More

Jewel how does your gardens grow?? With a lot of love & care i know. After lunch at Poppies very nice vegetarian & vegan options. Take a stroll through the gardens of spectacular plants & flowers. Yes flowers prosper here in this rain forest climate. Be sure not to miss the minature train & train station. Visit the glass blowers... More

Alaska is not where you'd expect to find a "show" garden, but that's exactly what this is. To lunch, overlooking such a large garden, including a small train, on a sunny day in June, was a real pleasure! My choice was chili-soup and a salad, both very good. An excellent self-guided walking tour brochure describes the 22 flower beds in... More

My heartfelt thanks to our guide Keelin, and glass blowers Travis and ? Jeremy (sorry, it's been two months ...). I went on the Jewel Gardens and Art by Fire shore excursion from the NCL Sun cruise ship, and can highly recommend this as something to do out of Skagway. By the way, Skagway is a delightful town - far... More

Some years ago I met Jim Jewell in the Eastern Sierra of California. There are no random acts. "Come to Skagway! " he said. Alaska had been on my bucket list for more than 20 years. Finally, July 2016, I made way north. From Juneau by Alaska Marine Highway fast ferry I found myself in the "Garden City of Alaska"... More

We booked the glass blowing experience at the last minute directly with Jewell Gardens on their website as we were looking for something extra to do in Skagway as we visited twice on our cruise. We had seen this offered by the boat but the price charged seemed excessive. The direct online offering was less than 40% of the cost... More

A very sweet organic flower and vegetable garden with a working glassblowing studio. The garden tour was very nice and followed by a up-close glassblowing demonstration. We were impressed by talents of the glass artists. There is also a gift shop where you can purchase some of their glass art to take home or have shipped.

Skagway is a lovely little town nestled in a valley in the mountains, and the jewel in this town is the Jewel Gardens. The plants were amazing, it was September so fall was on its way but the plants were still lush and the grass was still green. The train diorama was a serendipitous find. I loved it and followed...
