Experience the Alaska State Sport! Each summer, mushers bring their sled dogs to our Musher’s Camp for summer training, and you can participate in one of their training runs when 16 Alaskan Huskies pull your custom-designed, wheeled summer sled down a mile-long forested trail. You’ll also ride an all-wheel drive Unimog up our mountain, cuddle up with our adorable husky puppies, learn about this adventurous sport in our interactive “Kennel Talk,” and so much more!

The owner is a Iditarod racer he explained the clothing that is wore by the mushers and the dogs. how the dogs are taken care of. They let the dogs out of their pens to meet us. All were very friendly. They were then hooked up to the sled for a demo. They had 5 new puppies 7 days old.We... More

My wife and I did this excursion on 5/9/17 while on an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon. We booked through Skagway Shore Tours and had a really great time! We were transported to the base of the Mushers Camp via bus and our driver was both very knowledgeable and quite funny. I'm sure she had done this a number of... More

We did the Musher's Camp & Sled Dog Experience through Alaska Excursions. So glad we did this. You get to see the dogs' summer training areas for the Iditarod, and you get to be pulled a mile by them. :) The dogs really like mushing, and you can totally tell by their excitement while you're waiting to get started. My... More

We really enjoyed our visit here. The tour guide, Matt Hayashida, is an authentic musher and really great at telling the stories of his runs and explaining the Iditirod. We also loved seeing and petting the dogs. Great experience. The reason we rated it a 4 was because we thought the camp would be up in the snow and we... More

We went on this excursion yesterday. Our driver/guide Jeremy gave us a lot of info about Skagway as we drove to the camp. Once we got to the camp we transferred to a heavier vehicle to reach the dogs. We then were placed in a wheeled sleigh and treated to a ride with the dogs pulling. The dogs seemed to... More

Jeremy S was our guide. He was awesome, gave a nice narrated tour of Skagway as we drove to the camp. Wonderful scenery on the way out there. Once there you get a fun ride in a Unimog. When you reach the camp you jump on a sled and get the full experience of being behind a dog team as... More

Had a great time on the tour- gorgeous drive up the mountain (many scenic stops). The dog sled was quick but an awesome experience. And the end was my favorite part- getting to hold and socialize the new puppies!!!

I took the excursion in the first week of May, which is considered early in the season for Alaska. This excursion is advertised as 3.25 hours. Of that 3.25 hours you will only spend about 5 minutes riding on the dog sled. The remainder of the time is in transport or sitting around waiting for people to take pictures. Yes the... More

We opted for this excursion from a cruise we were on with Norwegian. Kevin Kasprick was our guide for the day along with the musher's at camp. This was by far one of the best experiences we have ever had. Kevin was an amazing guide with a great sense of humor and kept us entertained during the whole thing! Very... More

As the title denotes, this was by far the best excursion my wife and I had while on our Alaska cruise. Our guide was Kevin K and he did not disappoint. On the way up to camp, Kevin shared with us some of the history of Skagway, while also answering any questions we had about the native population and wildlife.... More
