A fun way to get a feel for the Alaskan gold rush

This was a fun way to get a feel for what panning for gold was like. It helps that everyone walks away with a little bit of stardust as well

Want to experience an the excitement of being a prospector? You should go on the Klondike Gold Dredge Tour. The experience took us back to an exciting period in history. Upon entering the site, we were give a lively and humorous demonstration on how to pan gold. Afterwards we were given a chance to try it for ourselves. I managed... More

The Klondike Gold Fields was a fun attraction to visit. On site they had an excellent dog tour, a brewery, a gold panning shed, a 40 below chamber, and more. They also had an excellent White Pass train tour. The staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable, and I had a great time!

We wound up at this tour as part of a ride on the WhitePass/Yukon railroad ride. The only part of this tour that provided any entertainment value was Charlie the prospector who showed you how to pan for gold. I would have paid five bucks to hear his banter but beyond that, there is just not enough happening here to... More

Please do not go here. The food is very low quality--everything is straight from a frozen box and tossed into the oven, but the buffet costs $17.95! The gold panning tour is totally bogus. I spent a ton of money for our family to go, and was deeply disappointed by 'Sluicebox Charlie'. His acting was extremely rote--like he'd been doing... More

This was a great excursion for people of all ages. We panned for gold, met iditarod dogs and spoke with an iditarod musher and had a wonderful guide on our train ride. Soapy Sam was knowledgeable and her facts held our interest the entire trip.

So my sister and nephew paid 60$ to pan for gold. We didn't want to pan so they said we had to pay 15 to watch and look around. Do not pay this. Grounds are minimal. We decided to have a root beer in the restaurantbwhich they ok'd and let us in to wait. Very rustic and not really a... More

The people here were so nice and welcomed us all with smiling faces! It was such a great experience! Sally, our tour guide, became a friend so soon into the tour. It didn't feel like we were "tourists" it felt like we had always lived there because we were treated so well! Thank you for a wonderful experience! -the Aastrom... More

On my recent Alaskan cruise on Celebrity, my friend and I had originally signed up for a cruise-sponsored excursion into Skagway, which got cancelled due to lack of participation. So we decided to do our own thing while our husbands went on a different excursion. I really wanted to play with puppies and see the sled dogs. When you get... More

This was a tour on our Alaskan cruise and I LOVED it, still talking about it. When you get off your ship, wait at the little booths for them to come get you, we got confused and waited elsewhere. A short drive through Skagway and you end up at a little gold mining village, with staff in costume. We went... More
