Overview
More
SAM has been the center for world-class visual arts in the Pacific Northwest since 1933. Visit SAM to see a museum carved into the city, as much a part of Seattle's landscape and personality as the coffee, rain, mountains, Pike Place Market, and the Space Needle. Our three distinct locations celebrate the region's position as a crossroads where east meets west, urban meets natural, local meets global. Our collections, installations, special exhibitions, and programs feature art from around the world and build bridges between cultures and centuries.

We went originally to see the Infinity Mirrors but unfortunately the tickets were all sold out. The rest of the museum is interesting and there is a range of styles to see. The highlight for me was probably the aboriginal art. Best to prebook tickets...More

Went to see the permanent exhibits at the SAM on a weekday morning in July. Despite advice to arrive early we found a 2 hour line by the 10 AM opening. By the time we (2 66 year olds) got in we were already tired....More

Ignore all the griping about long lines. Buy a membership, and you can get in for free. We went on a Monday and got tickets for 1 1/2 hours later. In the meantime we enjoyed the café and the gift shop and other exhibits. Once...More

My son and I had tried to see this on our visit to DC but those tickets were virtually impossible to get. So I was happy when I heard the exhibit would head to Seattle after DC. We decided to try for same-day tickets for...More

Nice though not much caught my eye, just a few pieces. Seemed short. Just two floors. Did enjoy the variety of items they displayed. I'm sure every season or so are different items, which is great.

Great art museum, very convenient location. Nicely curated and informative notes about each room and each artist. Free to the public in the first Thursday of each month

Honestly, I never made it into the exhibit area. The line to purchase an admission ticket was prohibitively long. I could not find where the end of the line actually was. Now I don't know if the line is always like this or if something,...More

Great permanent collection and fantastic changing exhibitions covering a wide genre of art. The restaurant is excellent for a quick snack or a sit down lunch to escape city noise. Check out the museum store, nice nick nacks and a great collection of works by...More

Hi Lee: Great question! Senior rates are $17.95 for guests 62 and over and on the first Friday of each month seniors are free to our collection and special exhibitions are half price. We hope you come visit SAM soon.
