The beach is small but when it's sunny and warm it feels like you are on the Big Island. Sandy beach (small) with a few restaurants and one (good) coffee place (Tully's). Definitely worth a jump from Seattle, I recommend taking the Water Taxi to...More

If it is sunny out Alki is busy. If it is summer and sunny Alki is very busy. Parking can be a drag but try going off onto the side streets to find parking as getting street parking right on the beach front can be...More

Great family area. Lots of space and you can walk for over a mile along the beach. Every view over to Seattle and Vashon are lovely. Nice to take the water taxi instead of driving and then you don't have to park. Summer of course...More

We love the paved sidewalk that runs the length of much of the beach, making it possible for me to visit in my wheelchair. We've been here twice and have appreciated that it was not packed with people. The Statue of Liberty replica is a...More

This is about a $30 cab ride from downtown Seattle. It's nice to walk up and down the promenade. There are a lot of cool homes. Parking, even on a Monday afternoon, is a challenge.

Enjoyed walking the beach area on a hazy day -- a peaceful setting with interesting eating places across the road.

If the weather is good, its worth a drive over to West Seattle to take in the views of the city from that side, see the divers go down in dry suits to find the octopi, and see the blend of old time summer beach...More

Great place to go only down side was parking. It took quite some time to find a spot. Lots of little shops and places to eat around. Kids found some shells and we had a great time.

Nice clean beach and a beautiful view of Seattle downtown. Our visit happened to be on one of the sunniest days of the Seattle summer and the entire skyline was visible from the shore. Lots of novelty gift shops and restaurants around. Lots of activities...More

Alki Beach is a nice place to take a walk. It is place to just hang out and enjoy the day. There are places to drink, eat, shop and rent bikes and pedal vehicles across the street from the beach. Bring your own munchies to...More

My boyfriend and I have walked our dogs randomly around midnight. We saw quite a bit of people walking around. But like anywhere I would watch for safety. When it gets warmer I expect there will be even more traffic.

If I take the water taxi will I be able to enjoy the area with no car use? Want to be able to use the beach and eat someplace. I have a 6&8 year old so reasonable walking fine.

The area is perfectly walkable and actually encouraging to do so. You can buy food at several places (fish and chips are awesome) including nice restaurants, ice cream shop, burgers, informal eateries, coffee shop, etc... More
