This is a beautiful space to enjoy a lovely afternoon on the lake. Parking is somewhat limited but bring a blanket and a picnic and you can have a lovely time right on the water.

Matthews Beach has a public swimming beach with restrooms and changing rooms (open in summer) plus picnic tables and a large set of play structures. Plenty of grass to spread out s blanket or run around, and it's on the Burke Gilman trail. Parking lot can fill up quickly on warm summer days.

We've lived in the Seattle area for almost 10 years now and JUST discovered this incredible park. It's on lake Washington and close to everything you want but secluded enough to be ideal. There are lots of picnic tables and even a diving board out in the water. Awesome place to relax with friends.

Lots of grass for running around, playing catch and flying kites. Water warm enough for swimming, ducks and geese to watch, BBQ areas and tables (get here early!). Lots of shade under big trees (which are also fabulous for climbing.) Diving platform out in the water. The cherry on the cake was the ice cream truck that came by just... More

This park has a main area where people swim. Just south of this area is a place to launch kayaks and stand up paddle boards. One can pull off the road to unload and then drive back to the parking lot to leave one's car. We arrived mid week in June and parking was available. We explored south along the... More

This is one of the premier parks and beaches on Lake Washington here in Seattle. There is a really nice beach with designated swimming area as well as a shower house. The attached park has lots of grass fields, lots of trees and a really nice playground for the kids.

We checked out this Lake Washington beach on an unseasonably hot day in June and found it extremely difficult to find a space in the parking lot. The beach -- actually a grassy expanse -- held myriad people sunning themselves and about 50 swimming or standing in the murky water. Most of those in the lake were young children with... More

Matthews is a nice beach with lovely views across Lake Washington. However, the address and directions are wrong. It is at 93rd st. NE Off Sandpoint Way, not 51st.

This is a local beach in Seattle's Sandpoint neighborhood near the U. You'll probably best reach it with your own transportation, but a local bus does stop nearby. Ths beach houses an old airport hanger which now shows entertainment events. On a nice day there's space for dog walking and recreational activities. The beach faces east toward Bellevue, Kirkland and... More
